Just thought I'd start a thread where we can post about all the shenanigans our friends in blue have been up to.

Police may have broken law during Carl Beech investigation – ex-judge

Call for criminal investigation after claim officers unlawfully obtained search warrants

A retired high court judge, whose review found a catalogue of failings in Scotland Yard’s £2.5m inquiry into false claims about a VIP paedophile ring made by a former nurse, says the police may have broken the law during their investigation.

Sir Richard Henriques called for a criminal investigation after he said Metropolitan police officers unlawfully obtained search warrants by using false evidence to raid the homes of high-profile figures during their inquiry into Carl Beech’s allegations.

He said Scotland Yard’s detectives described their key witness Beech as “consistently” misleading a judge into issuing search warrants to raid the homes of the D-Day veteran Lord Bramall, the widow of ex-home secretary Lord Brittan and the former Tory MP Harvey Proctor.

Henriques’ scathing attack follows the jailing of Beech – known under the pseudonym “Nick” – for 18 years last week after being found guilty of 12 counts of perverting the course of justice and one of fraud following a 10-week trial.

20,000 front line staff cut, cuts to the Fire Brigade meaning Fire Stations closed leading to deaths and Firefighters quitting as they have had enough, while the cunting Tories have blown billions on the banks and fucking Brexit is a bigger story for me.Who in their right mind would join the Police or Brigade these days?

You can't go around trying to fit people up for crimes, just because it fits the political agenda.

Strictly speaking they didn't fit anyone up they merely embellished the evidence they gave to obtain search warrants. You could call that perjury.

There is history of police malpractice here - Harry Redknapp for instance. The raid on his house was deemed unlawful and, to add salt to his wounds, the first Mrs Redknapp knew was when she saw a Sun reporter looking through a balcony window.

Interesting to see the 'new 20,000 police' stories from the Tories.

They got rid of 20,000 professional, experienced officers and this sounds like they'll be recruiting 20,000 new officers - are these going to be provided by G4S?

They both went in high, that's factually correct, both tried to play the ball at height.  Doku with his foot, Mac Allister with his chest.

A quick hit will be to lure back those experienced officers on better contracts just to give immediate headlines.

And a year later the Mail will be fulminating about PCs earning a full wage and claiming their pension entitlement.

Met police agreed to say they believed VIP abuse claims, report finds

Publication also reveals extent of deputy Labour leader’s role in failed Operation Midland

Scotland Yard officers agreed to publicly say they believed the key witness in a multi-million pound investigation into an alleged Westminster VIP paedophile ring, according to a damning report which lays bare a series of police failings.

The revelation was omitted three years ago when the Metropolitan police released a heavily redacted version of the high court judge’s report on its handling of the £2.5m Operation Midland, which ended without a single arrest.

Dalian Atkinson: Police officer charged with footballer murder

A police officer has been charged with the murder of retired footballer Dalian Atkinson who died after being Tasered.

The ex-Aston Villa striker, 48, was restrained by police officers at his father's house in Telford, Shropshire, on 15 August 2016.

A second police officer, also from the West Mercia Police force, has been charged with assault causing actual bodily harm.

Both were bailed after appearing at Birmingham Crown Court.

The Crown Prosecution Services (CPS) has not named the officers because it believes their defence will apply for them to remain anonymous.

Judge Simon Drew allowed the officers' identities to remain undisclosed over concerns there may be a threat to their lives, although this will be reviewed at a hearing next week.

Only 3 British police officers have ever been convicted of murder. One was in the 50's and 2 others were during the troubles in Ireland

For it to make it past the IPCC/IOPC let alone the CPS is shocking

I know.  Fully expecting not guilty verdicts.

A judge also granted them anonymity, something that a regular adult wouldn't have got.

Fury as decision on police inquiry into PM shelved until after election

Labour ‘shocked’ as police watchdog freezes investigation into Jennifer Arcuri scandal

The scandal over Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson’s friendship with technology entrepreneur Jennifer Arcuri was reignited on Saturday after the Observer revealed that the independent police watchdog has delayed its announcement on whether the PM should face an investigation into possible criminal misconduct until after the election.

The decision prompted fury from Westminster politicians and London assembly members who said it appeared that a ruling had been “suppressed” in order to protect Johnson from potentially damaging headlines at a crucial stage of the election campaign.

In a private meeting held before parliament was dissolved last week, the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) officials agreed not to announce whether they were going to investigate “possible criminality” over allegations about a conflict of interest in Johnson’s dealings while mayor of London with US businesswoman Jennifer Arcuri until after the election.

Dalian Atkinson death: police officer charged with murder is named

Judge lifts anonymity order on PC Benjamin Monk over death of former footballer

A police officer charged with murdering the former footballer Dalian Atkinson has been named as PC Benjamin Monk.

An order protecting his identity was lifted at Birmingham crown court on Wednesday by Judge Simon Drew QC after a challenge by media organisations.

The Crown Prosecution Service last week announced a murder charge against a police constable from the West Mercia force over Atkinson’s death.

Monk, 41, has been charged with murder, which carries a sentence of life imprisonment, and also faces an alternate charge of manslaughter.

A second officer, PC Mary Ellen Bettley-Smith, 29, was also named by the CPS on Wednesday as the officer charged with assault causing actual bodily harm. She had also initially been granted anonymity.

Atkinson, who played for teams including Aston Villa and Sheffield Wednesday, died aged 48 after a fracas outside his father’s home in Telford, Shropshire, in the early hours of 15 August 2016. A stun gun and other force were used on the former footballer during the incident.

The officers, who are both from Shropshire, were present at the hearing at which their lawyers agreed that anonymity could not be justified, but argued that their home addresses should not be revealed.
