Author Topic: Kirkby upgrade for 1st team?? (Read 121990 times)

I didn't know where to ask this question so I'll put it in here. Mods if there is a better place for it please move it.

Has any progress been made on the 1st team move to Kirkby? Has the land been purchased? Is construction underway? Are there any timelines available for the move?

Last update I saw is that it's out for tender (quotes) and likely to start in next few months. The land is all sorted, planning permission is sorted.

Not sure on a build time but expect they'll aim to start training there next summer.

The plans look great. They also include redeveloping some community playing fields and building 160 homes on the site of Melwood.

Good to see houses to be built on Melwood. Hope some will be affordable for first time buyers.

Contractors now appointed apparently. McLaughlin and Harvey.

Quite surprised by how little discussion this redevelopment has had on these boards. Massively important for the club and a giant step forward compared to where currently stand, but arguably the plans aren't as ambitious as maybe they should be.

to be honest it's had a fair bit but it's been spread over multiple threads in here so a little all over!

Are there any locals to keep tabs on the development of Kirkby- similar to the fine job of all who contributed to the progress of the main stand renovation?

Any updates on this? Have seen some pics on social media, but not much coverage anywhere else.

Also, does the completion of Kirkby determine the start of the Anfield Road expansion? Something about construction (capital improvement) debt in calendar year, or is that wide of the mark? The ARE thread has been locked a while, and haven't hear anything in a while. Just curious.

Out of curiosity, I'm assuming this is a private developer? In a perfect world, I'd love the club to be redeveloping Melwood and providing more affordable housing in the area - but I guess a pipedream.

The thing is bloody enourmous..... Hadn't appreciated its scale from the plans.

With the academy housed in other buildings, the firsts and U23's are going to be knocking around inside that.
