I think most reds missed it mate. It stems from when Rafa tried to buy Gareth Barry when he was still a Villa player and since then the Villa fans invented this fucking weird rivalry with us and have been vicious c*nts towards us ever since. They were delighted when we nearly entered administration under the two tumours and they have delighted in anything that has gone wrong for us since.

Turning there noses up when Rafa was linked to Villa only Ancelotti was good enough, again boot is on the other foot now.
First time in a cup final for 15 years instead half the Villa fans troll Steven Gerrard because he won't get to play in a cup final on his birthday.

I wonder if they have gone a bit mental over the years, not had their city rival in the same division for a while and had drifted along for so long in that non-entity zone where they were never competing for anything nor in relegation battles that they pounced on that Gareth Barry bid as a reason for us to be their rivals and gone on from there.
