Ultimate Mixtape Draft

Comin' at ya, like Cleopatra! It's the Ultimate Mixtape draft!

Pick 10 awesome songs and vote. The winner will be showered with praise, the losers will be taunted and booed until my throat is sore.

Each player's mixtape comprises of 10 songs by ten different artists/bands/groups with a maximum of two songs per decade, from any decade and at least one song with a female vocalist (lead, not backing vocals).

Times 9.00am - 10.00pm GMT with a maximum of two hours between picks, but there's a bit more leniency for everyone's first picks.

The list order:

Start at 9.00am tomorrow but picks can be made in the mean time.

I'd love us to post videos but too many will make the pages load far too slow, so a pic and/or like would be better.

I like the 'one a decade' suggestion, though I'd stretch it between 60's and 2010's, or maybe a rule that once someone takes a particular band/artist they're off the table - just something to avoid people filling their picks with classic rock/indie standards.

I agree with both 'one a decade' and taking a band/artist of the list.

I was thinking about making it a bit less restrictive, i.e. pick any song you like, albeit a maximum of one artist allowed. Like the female aspect though.

Any other suggestions welcome.

I'm not sure I can actually take part by the way. I'm in a similar boat to Djozer with my availability. Going to be travelling quite a bit next week as well, so I'll be even less available. Happy to pop in occasionally and post GIFs though.

On another note, I'd be up for a music video draft in the future. Pick the best songs with the weirdest/craziest/most extravagant/epicly bad videos!

Alright stop, collaborate and listen, the rules are thus:

Snake draft, with each player's mixtape comprising of 10 songs by ten different artists/bands/groups. Maximum of two songs per decade, from any decade. At least one song with a female vocalist (lead, not backing vocals).

Sound okay?

So if someone picks a band or singer does that mean they're gone from the draft as a whole? Seems like the best way of ensuring there's some variety.

Cheers for including me, and Tubby and Sheer Mag, please just skip me between 9 and 5ish most days (UK time), and those Djozerless hours may even extend occasionally depending on work if yous are ok with that, though I may occasionally be able to get to the phone during said time period.

Looking forward to it. Could be a mad one. Not sure whether to go proper obscure or TOTP. Might go for an all-Swahili mix. With one Hindi song, of course.

I was just listening to some and threw that in there to see if anyone read it. No requirement for that really.

Why would you have put it in if it wasn't a rule though? It must be a rule otherwise you wouldn't have written it. It's a rule.
