What a week!
« on: May 9, 2012, 09:06:32 am »
I don't start a lot of topics, but thought the Boozer was as good as any place to express myself a little, and as the title says - What a week!

Sunday I was diagnosed with Basal Cell Carcinoma which is a common form of skin cancer - very treatable and shouldn't affect my short or long term health.  I'm not too worried about this to be honest with you and after research if I had to have any cancer this would be the one!

Not all bad news though - this morning I've just found out that the Mrs is expecting Triplets!!!!!!  We've been undergoing IVF treatment for a few months so we knew a multiple pregnancy was a definite possbility, but.........wow!

It's still early days (7 weeks) but I just had to get it out there!

Still in shock, still sinking in, but so, so Happy!!!!  This is how I feel at the moment ----------->  :fishslap

Wow. Not sure whether congrats are entirely in order considering the former situation but geez, well done on the IVF and I hope you get your medical condition sorted out as soon as mate so you can prepare for 3 screaming babies!!

Best of luck. :)

Strange how news comes in like that

Firstly, good luck with the basal cell carcinoma - what did the Dr say about that.

Secondly - good luck with the triplets - pray they're not girls!

Yep - real head Fcuk day.  About to leave the office because I just can't concentrate lol!

Re. the BCC Cancer - it will be frozen off over the next few weeks so am not really worrying about it at all.  It's the most common cause of skin cancer, shouldn't spread, and I shouldn't really have any sickness from it.  We've got very good private medical cover over here in Qatar so am in good hands - treatment will start next week.  And after that all my efforts will be going in to saving for the new family lol!

Looks like we will be staying in Qatar until the World Cup after all - that's the only way I will be able to afford them!

I had a mate who had BCC in his 20s, it's not something to get overly worried about, it won't metastasise and they can just freeze/cut it off. Still best to get it sorted ASAP though.

Congrats on the triplets!

very good friend of mine has triplets. 2 boys and a girl.   It's been fun to watch them grow up.   Each one is different, but then you can see their relationship with is each other is much closer then regular siblings.

I wish you the best of luck - and congrats.

True story here. As you know I've got identical twin 14 year old boys. When Mrs Macca was pregnant, we didn't ask what sex they were, but they did tell us that they were going to be identical. So we went back to tell my ma and she said "Oh that'll be great if you had one girl and one boy" So I told her that one girl and one boy couldn't possibly be identical. "Why's that then?" she asked. I said ""cos one of them would have a dick yer fucking idiot!"

Anyway Nat, mixed news for you, one a bit of a curse and one a blessing. Good luck with your fight to get well, and at the same time congratulations to you and the missus. Raul and Royhendo are the other kings of the multiple births so I'm sure they can give you some decent advice if you need it!

We've been very lucky with the IVF as we have gone through the local hospital for treatment.  At a Private Hospital (where I'm getting the BCC treated) IVF would have cost about 8k, but they don't have an Embriologist at the moment - so we managed to get a referral at the end of January; 1500 quid and 3 months later we're Pregnant...!

The Medical Care is heavily subsidised by the Qatari government, but seeing though we don't pay Tax the service and care has been amazing.  So much so that we have decided to have the Children there as well rather than at a Private Hospital.
