Sure everyone only interested in events at Goodison earlier, but LFC U18s won 3-2 over Sunderland at Kirkby. Two for Layton Stewart and a first on his first start for Ethan Ennis. Congrats to Terence Miles on his debut too.

Lfc u23s lost 1-0 against Brighton today.  Interesting that Jack Walls played, because he was released this summer.

Stewart still scoring them goals I see.  :D
Hope some highlights go up tomorrow. Always nice to see Stewart among the goals and chuffed for young Ethan Ennis to get his first.

I have heard some good things about Ennis, that is exciting for him. Will look out for the highlights, some good news anyway.

Mabaya with two assists yesterday and seemed to run the show. So excited to see him develop- he’s slotted in to this age group seamlessly.

The very short shortcut to the goals from the Sunderland game are now on the lfc site (but you might need to be a member).  Was interested to find out who the Davidson was that was on the bench.  Seems like he is a Scottish forward who we picked up recently - there are stories on the internet fro Nov last year saying we, amongst many other clubs were interested in the then 15 year old.

The fact that Davidson, Giblin, Ennis, McConnell, Miles, Hayes-Green, all schoolboys, were playing Or on the bench at the weekend suggests there must be a number if injuries in the squad.  I haven’t included Mabaya in that list because he seems to be playing up regardless.  So, for example, we saw Blair getting what looked like a long term injury in a recent match.  Cannonier played one academy match this season I think but has not appeared since and I thought he was quite highly thought of.   Likewise,  Musialowski.  There’re both forwards.   Then there is Stephenson (but I think he is suspended) and Jonas who wasnt playing (hence presumably Miles playing this weekend).

From the 2nd years, we know Hill and Morton both have injuries, with Hill’s being a long term one at least.  Also Norris hasn’t been seen for a bit.

So Giblin might be the first post-Istanbul born player to play for the u18s if people want to feel really old

Interesting info, thanks for this. Have certainly noticed the u18 side trending quite young recently so I wonder how much is injury related and how much is self-isolation related. Great to get an early glimpse at a few highly rated lads anyway. Obviously Mabaya looks the business, but that Ethan Ennis looks the spitting image of Layton Stewart. Even his goal this weekend reminded me of him. Big talent no doubt.

On the Davidson lad, I found some links to a Bruno Davidson from last year but some articles from January suggest he’s signed for Celtic. Wonder if it’s the same kid or not. It’s nigh on impossible to find much about about the u16 group so tough to say.

Looks like Vitos Jaros might be the third goalie taken for the Ajax match, and Jake Cain is there too - from the photos of them getting on the plane.   Interesting.

He signed last year.  Good goal scorer at u23s and played in both cup runs last season but been injured.

Glad he's been registered for the seniors.

I wondered what happened to him. So him and Glatzel should be available for U23s soon?

Not sure when they're due back but Joe missed the summer and pre season training due to his injury.

He’s from Neston originally. Was at Tranmere as a kid and went to Brentford via Man City’s academy.

Think they've changed the format this season with straight knockouts and not necessarily the same team as the seniors or on the same day.

Liverpool U23s host Chelsea in Premier League 2 this afternoon - watch the game live on LFCTV and LFCTV GO from 12.55pm BST.

Kick-off at the Academy is scheduled for 1pm, but our live single-camera coverage begins five minutes earlier.

Played a full 90 minutes in a 3-1 loss. Didn't think he'd be getting as much play time from the start, but I guess that's the reason why we sent him there.

Knowing Everton it won't be for the squeamish so they probably didn't want to show the horror tackles live.

They have really cut back their coverage of the under 18's this season and its really disappointing. I would love to see Stewart get another hattrick against these, you are right though expect them to come with their horrible tactics.

Not aware.  I was going from the updates on premier league.com, which has the Stewart goal as an own goal, whereas @Andyk_livnews, who would be at the match, says Stewart goal.

No dubious goals panel at this level so Stewart will probably get it.

Good to see Morton and Corness back involved and the young Polish striker back in the bench.

Under 18s won the derby 4-0 and the 23s are 2-0 up against Chelsea (Rhys Williams, Jake Cain)

Edit: 3-0 to the under 23s now, Liam Millar with a penalty. Only 20 minutes gone.
