I love Christmas at Christmas time, not in fucking Autumn. You can throw all the ad's you want at me from the 1st December but seeing endless couch warehouse adverts with fucking crappy looking CGI snow piled on top of the logo and jangly bells forcibly inserted into the jingle from the middle October is very aggravating.

Has Fenwick's window been done yet?

I like Christmas, just hate the build up, although at least here it STARTS in December.

Although last year I went to see A Christmas Carol at the start of November and it got me in the mood for Christmas.
I'll always keep in my heart the good times I've had here, the strong and loyal support of the fans in the tough times and the love from Liverpool. I have no words to thank you enough for all these years and I am very proud to say that I was your manager.

Yes it usually isnt before the start of November but it's usually not long being done after November comes.

Seen my first Christmas lights outside a house tonight though on the way home from work.

Can I be a bit sad?

I fecking hate the Christmas jamboree. The shops, the songs, the santa hats, the whole shitting thing. I like the food bit as I love cooking and I'll be baking and basting when the time comes but the lead up I really dislike. I also hate the fact that I'll be hearing Slade again. Note to shopping centres and shops: I walk out of your shop and your shopping centres when I hear Slade.

My opinion of it all shifted the other day tho. The wife was at work and I had our 7 month old for 2 hours. I prammed him for a mile thru roadworks to wander around a gardening centre. He was asleep by the time I got there. I farted about wasting time wandering thru a massive out of town gardening mecca full of the most godawful rubbish but some useful stuff too. I grow my own veg (or try too) so it wasn't exactly wasted.

When the little fella wakes up he usually cries for his mothers breasts ( a bit like me) and is inconsolable until he finds it so I was a bit fraught when he woke up. But I brought him to the moving live size reindeer and the family of moving polar bear robots and deer and flickering christmas trees that they were setting up and his face turned from sheer fear to utter delight. It was quite magical. I wish Umberto Eco could have seen it.

I bought a rubber mop and a glass jar.

In early october i refused to walk into any shop that had christmas stuff out - was at the New Mersey Retail in Speke and walked into Next. Saw christmas trees galore and a woman asking if i wanted the xmas catalogue. Turned and walked straight out.

Now its into november i can take it a bit more - its way too much tho, sofa ads are always the first. With Mariah fucking Carey blaring out as well. Does my head in!!!
It's awfully considerate of you to think of me here/ and i'm most obliged to you for making it clear/ that i'm not here

Love Christmas, Hate New Year.

I just ignore the build-up. I use my last lieu day of the year to do my Christmas shopping in one go and put the tree up in early December, which is when Christmas officially begins. Meet up with the lads for a few bevvies Christmas Eve daytime, everyone goes home to their families at teatime. Before all the nobheads come out. End up watching Christmas Carol, Its a Wonderful Life, Home Alone, Scrooged, Fred Claus, Die Hard, or whatever combination of films is on. Again. Christmas Day is Christmas Day. Boxing day is hair of the dog day and watching the match. With a whole week off work to look forward to. Then it goes downhill until the shite fake optimism of New Years Eve which results in a twat of a hangover and the realisation that you're back to the drudge once you're over it. Then probably nothing to look forward to until a couple of days off at Easter. Humbug.

I manage a shop in a shopping centre in Dublin.... they had all the xmas decorations up when i came in on Monday morning .....
Got me thinking of the ridiculous hours I'll be doing next month: 60 - 70 hours a week in absolute chaos... the crazy stress and presssure.......no xmas bonus again this year :(
All l look forward too is getting hammered on Xmas eve after locking up and sleeping most of Xmas day.............

I always say I'll never do another Xmas in retail again........ this is my 10th :(

With my job last year Christmas didn't really feel like much of a holiday when I was in until 10 to 8 on Christmas Eve and in again on Boxing Day (the first one I've ever worked).

Also didn't like work suddenly changing my hours on Boxing Day from finishing at 2 to finishing at 5, meaning I missed dinner.

I teach English 12 hours a week. ;)

There'll be no danger of the same thing happening to me this year, Christmas holidays are too short without me havin to worry about working part time as well.

I should emphasise that we have wrapped the presents and not the kids. We tried wrapping the kids, but the paper is so thin these days that they just escape. You need to use Duck tape to really control them...

I'm seeing someone at the moment  that I'm not sure about and she just asked what I wanted for christmas.  Was trying to think of a nice way of saying don't spend any money just yet!

I just told her I don't like thinking about christmas till a week before - aside from that, I can't understand all this humbugness!

I'm hopefully gonna get the most of mine done by early December, taking the online route this year but as the bank card has a limit of how much you can stick on it per month (and I have to pay this month's rent yet) I cant get it done any sooner.

Same with me - walking round shops on christmas eve is hell!

Far better to do my shopping in front of my computer with a few beers if I can do it in time.

Well apparently there also might be the issue of what sites will accept my card, as apparently a lot of French sites won't deliver to a UK address or UK sites won't accept French cards so I'll have to check as I really don't want to be hit with baggage fees.

But that's the issue, I want to post it to the UK address but I'm not sure some sites will let me if I'm paying for it with a French bank card.

And don't say, well use an English card then cos there's fuck all in either of those accounts.

no I mean buy it in shops/get it delivered to you I'm France and then post it to the UK yourself. Maybe not the best, but doable.

1st of November, and I'm already getting cheesed off with the Christmas adverts on TV.

I've been unlucky enough to be stuck in today, in front of the telly all day, and already I'm sick of hearing that little bleeding twinkly, twinkly tune, the troika.

Personally, I've nothing against  Prokofiev, and I'm not particularly anti-Christmas.  I just despise the constant rampant comercialism of Christmas.

I mean. Our local Asda has Christmas goodies on the shelf from early September, and now the constant wall to wall recycled Crimbo adds on the telly.

FFS. Does someone want to tell the advertising industry that Christmas is a Christian festival in fucking December.

And it's only going to get worse and worse from here on in.  :wanker :no

AAAAAAAHHHHHHHH Fuckit.   Bah Humbug  :rant

Im with yeah on this one mate. Cant stand all the commercialism that surrounds christmas.

Me. I do. It's family time, giving some good prezzies that the people in my life deserve for being bloody brilliant. It's the time to walk the dog in the freezing cold, call in at mates' houses who I've not seen for a year, catch up with the pub I used to work in, and sit by the fire with a Bailey's. Off into town on Boxing Day, then back home soon after, for another Christmas just before New Year. Spot on.

Christmas is what it is today, which is in the majority is not a christian celebration. the media has made it what it is and ive accepted it. Im happy that people enjoy themselves and am fine with it aslong as they don't claim they are celebrating it for the real and original reasons, the reasons its called christmas.

Has to be said a lot of people arent going to have that great a chistmas this year, what with the tory c*nts out to fuck everyone except the rich and the economy going in the bog. So yeah the rich c*nts wont be effected, which is annoying enough, but to see that hairy spud faced c*nts missus Coleen doing an advert showing her buying loads of fucking presents is really fucking sick, the Rooneys certainly wont be having a bad chrimbo, what with the raise the little fucker has just got.

I didnt pay attention to who she is whoring for, but whoever it is should be boycotted on the principle that they are taking the fucking piss having her front for them!
