Some turnaround this from Konta after the way she lost the first set.

Sorry Kvitova but you weren't getting that back in play, stop being silly! The call came about 2 seconds after she'd already hit it anyway.

Konta needs to chill with the ridiculous attempts at drop shots. Some of them never look like getting off the floor nevermind over the net.

State of that game from Konta. She's played really well today and will probably still win this match but games like that are why she won't win the title.

Konta teeing up Kvitova for some piss easy points. Why does she do this a lot? Just loops the ball up into the path of Kvitova to do what she likes with it.

Job done just about. Strycova up next and then the winner of Williams v Riske if she makes the semis.

It's doable, but I'm just not sure if she's quite got it between the ears.

They were saying earlier that the grass tends to quicken up in the second week as well, so that should suit Raonic more than anyone else.

Kvitova has been by far the best of the women so far this Wimbledon in my mind. I think she'll beat Konta comfortably.

Great prediction there ;) - very good first set by both Kvitova and Konta, with Konta throwing it away right at the end; but Konta been the better player since then, albeit with a slight stutter right at the end of the third set.  The women's draw, yet again, has been incredibly difficult to predict, with numerous big seeds going out.

I feel like we are going to have a deja vu conversation (like the one we had a few weeks ago during Roland Garros). I recall saying that Konta can still do it, but she’s going to need to do it very soon. There have been many late twenties first time grand slam winners. But that choking aspect in the high pressure points is going to make it hard for her. She’s got the talent imo, no doubt. But the mental aspect is so huge, particularly in a sport like tennis.

I would say that you might as well give the trophy to Williams now.

However, she isn't getting any younger and knows that these opportunities wont be coming around so regular. She could end up beating herself by getting too anxious.

I don't think any of the women left have the game that should trouble Williams on this surface.

She's also got the mixed doubles with Murray to keep her sharp aswell.

Haha you're spot on, every time I think a female player is looking good they inevitably get beaten in the next round!

Aren't all the female players like that?

Barty today, Kvitova here, Pliskova was serving for the match twice, Mertens led a set and 5-2 and lost.

Serena seems to be the only one who doesn't regularly implode, which I guess is why she is an all time great.

Hopefully not coming across as sexist, I guess it has a lot to do with them not having a big serve to bail them out when they aren't playing that great - and vice versa, the serving always gives the opponent a chance when they are playing great.

I think that’s just one of the things that makes tennis exciting. As an individual sport, anyone can lose focus or play badly during a match, but the scoring system means it can be turned around quickly if you hold on to your serve (however tight your own service games have been to that point) . Like you say, though, more men have a big serve to dig them out of bad patches on service games.

Have you been watching? I haven't, but 2-0 up in sets to 2-2 and after serving for the match in the 4th.. Not good at all.

Yeah watched from the 4th set, he always has a choke in him for some reason. I still think he wins this 5th though.

Or not. Raonic out!

Other than the big 3, Nishikori is the only one of the top 20 seeds in the men's draw still in.

Been some very unpredictable results this year.

Think RBA will smash Pella. Honestly not particularly impressed with him, just think Raonic and Anderson were both terrible and choked in key points.

Riske's nerves have cost her this match.

She really tightened up serving at 1-0 and hasn't quite recovered since.

Her serve has been poor this set.

Yeah, she speaks and plays tennis like she was designed in a lab. She’d give the same answer to her favourite tv show as she would her feelings on winning Wimbledon.
