A genuine topic about Hyypia and high lighting his current success. Nothing to do with taking over LFC with immediate effect.

Sami swerved the Hodgson Bullet ;)

Possibly his greatest ever piece of defending.  :)

Would of course be great if he went on to be a top manager and returned some day. Hope this thread doesn't but the mockers on Leverkusen now. It's early days for Sami the manager.

Great to see him doing so well. Still very early in his career.
I hope he has a board who backs him and gives him the patience a young manager deserves!

Sami is one the greatest 10 characters we've ever had at this club. Nothing would please me more than to see and feel his presence at this club again, steward, progamme seller even streaker, don't care. Manager, one day, fantastic.

(but I'd like him to be good as well, so this is good news)

Legend. And a brilliant defender, I will never forget his performance against the Manc at Old trafford in 2009. I believe Carra or Agger was injured during warm up and Sami stepped in, did amazing. I will always remember how controlled the ball when it came from behind him.

Arbeloa got injured, Carra filled in at right back and Sami stepped up, and what a performance he gave us that day.

Id love him back but he will need to win something to qualify in my opinion and with Klopp being Klopp and Guardiola coming to Bundesliga that might prove to be problematic

If he does well with Leverkusen, consistently qualifies for the CL and have a strong Europa campaign once in a while, he'd do for me. A German cup win might be a bonus but since Leverkusen's squad is miles off Dortmund & Bayern, I think it is unfair to just judge him based on how many trophies he has won.

After all, we only signed Rodgers after a good season in the top flight.

Rodgers was in the rigth place at the right time. When we sacked Houllier and hired Rafa Bentiez the press were screaming for Curbishley/Alardyce. People who had proven far more than Rodgers had. But we went and got a guy with a beastly CV and should Rodgers depart Id expect us to remember that we are Liverpool and get another guy with a beastly CV

« Reply #230 on: April 5, 2014, 11:28:20 am »
Just heard.  Bit of a disaster for him in the end..

The Matchday 29 defeat at Hamburger SV proved the final straw for a Werkself side now in real danger of slipping out of the top four following a dismal run of form that has seen the Rhineland club collect just eleven points since the turn of the year, as well as being knocked out of the DFB Cup by second tier outfit 1. FC Kaiserslautern and the UEFA Champions League at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain.
'We have to save our season'

"It was a very difficult decision as Sami has done a fantastic job for us in the last two years," said Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Völler. "What he and his coaching staff managed to get out of our team in the first half of the season far exceeded our expectations and earned him widespread praise. It makes this decision all the more difficult. However, the developments of the last few weeks gave us no other option but to go our separate ways. We have to do everything in our power to save our season."

Hyypiä, who ended his playing career at the club, was appointed as joint-coach alongside Lewandowski two years ago, before taking sole charge at the beginning of the 2013/14 season.

Can't see it myself, once you get that bug it's pretty rare to accept being a coach and not the main man.
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.
