See, now that's reasonable, I'd be more inclined to go if they'd do that for us. I can't drink wine and I get bored drinking lager/cider, at London prices a single isn't much more expensive than a pint anyway so it's not even a budget thing.

Ours was last friday. Fuck me, going to work today was awkward.
Manchester United could win fifty titles, but they will always be the Rolling Stones of football. Good, just not quite that band from Liverpool.

You should literally be skinned for such a fucking daft answer :o

Ours is on Saturday. Three course dinner at a restaurant in town (venue as yet unknown, but the menu choice sounded very good) followed by drinks in the private lounge of a newly opened bar, apparently.

Now, I think that the bar is free all night, but i'm not certain. Whether or not I deem the night a success will rest heavily on the answer to this question.

Only problem is there's not a huge number of people I'd happily drink with at work and a couple of them aren't going.

I'm with you on that. Most of the people at work are sound, like, but whether I would choose to socialise with them outside of a work-related setting is another matter entirely. I've yet to decide which of the following policies to go with;

1) Get twatted. It's a free bar - it's rude not to.
2) Retain control. Have a few, but retain a professional grace throughout.
3) Take a lead from the group. If shots make an early appearance then: [see 1)].

Mine is this Friday at lunchtime. 3 course meal and a place just round the corner from where I am staying.

We get the afternoon off. I have only been at the company for 3 months so getting horribly trashed will probably not leave a good impression. So will have a few polite drinks and make my way home after and acceptable 2/3 hours there.

We're just having an in-house thing with a few drinks and secret santa. Nothing to write home about.

We get fuck all off our mingebag company but there's a night out in town on Saturday. If it's anything like the staff canteen then it'll be Poles in one corner, Lithuanians in another and assorted Latvians, Slovakians and Hungarians in the others.  Given the choice of attending or having my teeth pulled out without anaesthetic I'd opt for the latter.

Apprarently we're not having one this year. It's a tiny company (only 2 of us are full time) and it's not been a good year. Can't say i'm that arsed to be honest, i'd rather not go out for dinner with the people i ahve to work with 7 hours of the day and pretend that i'm actually interested in being around them outside of work. I'm not.

Full of the joys of the season.
And when you find yourself along the untrodden path
Remember me with a smile, a drink, a gesture or a laugh
And a toast for the man who loves every hour of every day
And a feast for the friends and faces met along way
Gratitude

Ours is lunch in St Paul's, followed by ten pin bowling at All Stars in Holborn and I imagine a club after that for those still going strong.  Free booze all day so is usually decent  :)

Just had a departmental one on Friday at Roast , Borough mkt by London Bridge.

Very decent 3 course meal paid for including all drinks . For 8 of us it came to about 900 quid and 3 out the 8 don't drink !!

Going to miss the main one this friday (Masqerade ball)  at a venue in the city.

They must be getting it cheap having the Christmas Party after Christmas  :D

Looking forward to ours next weekend. Last year we had our meal paid for and all drinks at the restaurant where we stayed for a few hours, then our boss paid us into a club. The office has grown a lot since then (about 50 or 60 people now) so they might not be quite so generous, will be a free meal and a few drinks anyway. Don't know what will happen after, hopefully we'll split up into smaller groups. Never feel comfortable getting pissed with my bosses around.

I am dreading ours, it's some twat restaurant in East London which means I have to either wear kevlar to avoid being stabbed or ear protectors to avoid listening to the twat hipster bullshit.

None of the above is as bad as spending a night with Pointless Pete, Lazy Bones or Fugly, I will put money on at least one of those three pulling a sickie the day after.

WHat restaurant?

Went to a small town a few hours away; hotel, food, drinks all paid for by the company. Small company with just a few employees that just had a great year financially, was decent.

Ours is Thursday night at a local Italian, we get Ł25 a head off the company. Food there is excellent, our IT director threw a hundred quid or so in for wine last year, one of the managers was buying shorts and our new boss was buying jager bombs like crazy when we went for a meal in summer, so guaranteed bad head on Friday.

Ours is on Friday at Old Trafford Cricket ground. First one since they shut the Crawley site and consolidated to the Manchester one so it's a big crowd, over 200 people. Loads of good people though and it's always a good laugh. Dinner followed by a disco with free bar all night, spirits included, then probably out in Manc somewhere

I suppose you would need shorts in the summer, nice boss buying you all shorts.

Ours was ok - it's my company and we pay for everything. Ate at Tramshed in London which was very good but loads of us had meetings the following day so it was all a bit restrained and I was home by 1.00am. Previous years we have had champagne cocktails at Tower 42, gone bowling, ice skating and other stuff.
