We're trend setters that's for sure. I know we take songs from other sides, but they seldom get spread out everywhere across the country like when we put our spin on it. [Remember we won it 5 times, and what happened after that. ]

I think our five times one ended up being sung by rugby and cricket fans too. Wools.

Ask me who i'd be most gutted to lose from our front 3, and it's Bobby everytime for the reason you state above. There is nobody to replace his skillset, it's truly one-of-a-kind, and a style that I think will set trends as the football develops over the next few decades.

I work with Spurs fans and they think i'm bonkers when I say i'd rather Firmino than Kane. I do rate Kane, but ask yourself who you'd rather build the team around? No way Salah scored 40-odd goals without Bobby last season...

I think Firmino's skillset is made for the way we play and the players we have. Where you have two wide forwards with as much scoring threat as we do, Firmino is perfect.

I don't know that it's a setup that many other teams have though?

Benzema may have done something similar when he had Ronaldo and Bale either side of him.

Yeah that's another good example actually. Are there any younger examples that we could consider as backup for Bobby?

I think Dybala could be in his mould.

Mainly came in here to wax lyrical about his performance again. Absolutely unique and we are so lucky to have him.

It looks to me like we've switched back to an attacking shape that is more like last season, with Salah staying out wide more and Firmino playing higher up the pitch as more of a 'conventional' striker. For me they both look better for that change.

Tailor-made for the Champions League. I don't think he got enough credit last year for his performances in Europe. 10 goals and 7 assists in just over 1,000 minutes is remarkable.

I agree with you.. and apart from the forwards, this change has also helped Naby I feel and its shown in his performance last night.. The 4-3-3 of last season affords us to be more direct and quicker in the middle and forward areas.. it also makes us more fluid and less deliberate on the ball..

And Naby played in a similar way at RBL.. In a 4-2-3-1 I felt he was struggling.. (Not the Naby thread I know)

According to someone on the reddit thread I got it from, the tweet only counts Gerrard's goals in the competition proper, so it doesn't include qualifying rounds. Firmino and Salah are on 14, though.

Klopp will never admit to having a favorite player, but my guess is it is Firmino. Klopp loves pressing, attacking football, and Bobby is the perfect engine for Klopp's style. And he never complains, he's unselfish and never stops working. Oh, and he's brilliant at football too.

I love all the Reds, but Firmino's my favorite for sure. :scarf

One of the most,  if not *the* most integral players to play in this team for Klopp

What a player! He had a great game today. Was constantly pressing them giving them no time on the ball, tracked back & importantly held the ball up and brought others into play.

In the first half they were not even on Salah & Mane, but there were two players on Firmino, it means Sarri had done his home work. But they couldn't live with him as the game went on.

There was one moment in the first half where he gathers the ball in midfield and starts carrying it. There's Mane on the left alone which seemed the right option to take. Bobby goes on on his own and earns a foul. Sadio gesticulated to him he should have passed as there was space ahead of him and Bobby just winked at him.  :)

I mean I would probably react that way too but Sadio lad, one reason you and Mo have scored so many and had space available in front of you is because Bobby have fed you a shitload of passes and said space.  :D

PS: In the name of perfection and Bobby's high standards of awareness, the pass he missed to Trent (instead he took the shot outside the box - right after the 2-0) that would have released the latter in basically an excellent position to score or even square the ball to someone else for a tap in, was the only mistake he did IIRC in an otherwise great performance. That backheel one two to Salah was just beautiful.
Messi in fact doesn't have a recognizable trait.

That play to win the ball back at left back then us leading to scoring at the other end was prime Bobby.

Guys priceless, another goal as well which leaves him only 4 off 20 for the season which is a very good return to be honest

He's just really really fucking good isn't he? He's got everything. He seems to take a while into the season to hit his stride physically but once he does, he is so complete. Brilliant player.
