Everything feels so last ditch for WHU. Haven’t got the legs to get to Chelsea players in wide areas it feels like.

What is the APLT score for Chelsea here today?

Is there a reason West Ham aren’t like rabid animals around Chelsea players like they were v us?

No reason because they weren't. They played similarly to how they are today, numbers behind the ball, trying to break and close spaces to break down attacks. We were undone by set pieces and stepping out a yard too slow when they looked to hit us on the counter, Chelsea look VERY vulnerable here falling for similar tricks on the break.

The thing is Chelsea set up with a completely different defensive shape and the 3 CBs gives West Ham something to think about when they look to counter

Antonio is so weak

He hasn't got a very good first touch, should be killing those zipping in balls to him feet and holding it up.

I don’t find that tough to admit

I find tough to accept United were racking up titles v Norwich and Villa in the 90’s and we have to fight these and city with the team weve finally got

That is rather aggravating

Yeah, it is a bit shite, although it does make winning the title that bit sweeter.

It says a lot for us as a club that there is nobody better than us in this league. That said, City and Chelsea are probably on the same level as us, even if neither are as thrilling to watch.

I'm imagining Big Dick Nick's mid-term school report of 'Must try harder'. Then the end of term report with 'Nick has made big improvements in his attitude and effort - well done!'.
 ;D

You’ve just described Divock Origi.

Don't think it was all that against us. We dealt with it quite well first half. They sat deep and tried to hit us on the break. They live for set pieces and scored 2 against us. They're a decent side but it's not going to work every week against top teams. Hopefully they can at least hold on here but who knows
It's wonderful, it's marvellous, it's 3-3

To be fair they were also up against Wenger’s Arsenal in the latter part of the 90s, but yeah, the level has increased massively. If you put our team in those leagues we’d have cleaned up.

They have had a good go West Ham and that's what you want to see. They are also showing that you can get at this Chelsea defence as well.

Bowen reminds me a lot of Shaqiri, although he will cost significantly more than Big Shaq did when we signed him!
Mark my words. Top 8 will be a massive struggle.
We won't make any big signings this season and we will go back to being a top4 club.

Yep a quicker harder working Shaqiri, probably less quality technically though.

To be fair he is a bit younger than Shaq when we got him, and really not as expensive as one would think (it was 36 mil if I remember right, which seems pretty good value honestly)

Edit: actually maybe not, just Shaq had been around so long when we got him I thought for sure he was like 28/29

Yeah I wasn’t the most enthused myself, but I guess this is why we have the best transfer committee around a lot of our targets/signings quality isn’t always apparent to the naked untrained eye.

Was like they had 30 players on the pitch

Mate being honest I will rewatch but they really weren't that good from memory. They outplayed us, but we were poor so they didn't need to be out of this world. I've seen one side play against us 'like they had 30 players on the pitch' this season and it was not West Ham. They earned their win but it wasn't a pressing monsters, high intensity, dogfight performance. They just game with a gameplan and executed well, they've done the same here but they aren't playing us, they're playing 5 at the back which requires a different skillset
