Let’s go… spill the tea! What is your:

Top song of the year? Top 5 if you want to give them!
Your audio aura?
Your top artist and % of their listeners?
How many mins listening to them?
Your top artists?

If you have Spotify and you don’t know what I am talking about: https://www.spotify.com/us/wrapped/

(Apparently this doesn’t count November stats)

1. Songs of the Year
Champagne Problems - Taylor Swift
Long Story Short - Taylor Swift
Willow - Taylor Swift
Daylight - Taylor Swift (Live from Paris)
Cardigan - Taylor Swift

2. Aura
Wistful and cosy

3. Top Artist
Taylor Swift and I am in the top 0.05% of her listeners

4. 19,834 minutes listening to her

5. Top 5 Artists
Taylor Swift
Train
The Beatles
Bon Iver (but this is the duet with Taylor - I don’t listen to any of their songs)
(Not confirming 5 as it’s my Husband’s doing!)

I really need to get my Husband his own Spotify account. Too many duds in the top 100, which is all him.

Top song of the year? Top 5 if you want to give them!
Infinite - Push (epic trance track)
Pale memories - DJ Governor (comes after the one above on my trance playlist)
Concrete angel - Gareth emery
Harder than you think - Public Enemy
Night in Tokyo - Danzfolk

Pretty sure 4 of them are in a trance playlist I play when I am working to keep me motivated. Easy to just leave on repeat for hours.

Your audio aura? Confident and Bold
Your top artist and % of their listeners?   OMD 0.5%
How many mins listening to them?
Your top artists?
OMD
Lost Frequencies
Gareth Emery
Blancmange
Mint Royale

Nice little feature of spotify

about to bin it off though as Spotify doesnt work with my Airplay anymore on an Amp I have and I have to switch to Apple music

Mine is a weird one this year as I started January 1st with approx 13,000 liked songs in alphabetical order and I've listened to them in that order whilst on my walks.

I'm currently listening to Prophecies by Philip Glass.

I had a very good idea who my top artists based on which artists I have most albums.  The issue with the listened to song is that when i stop listening at work and then play again on leaving the song i'm halfway through listening to finishes and then it defaults to a random song which tends to be the same one for a few weeks so no point listing Top Songs because i should have only listened to each song once.  Rest of the details are:

37,853 Minutes listened

Top5 artists (pretty much what i expected)

Marillion
Rush
Joe Satriani
Underworld
Steve Vai

Genres - apparently i've listened to 91 Genres

Progressive Rock
Electronica
Instrumental Rock
Comedy
Progressive Metal

Comedy is a bit of a surprise but I have a lot of Doug Stanhope/Bill Hicks/Richard Pryor and Mitch Hedbergh

It obviously picked up December last year as I binged Louis Theroux Grounded Podcast - so that's my number 1

I posted in the other thread about the problems with modern streaming. All the stuff I’ve been listening to is stuff I’ve bought in one format or another over the years anyway.

The bigger issue though is not buying music any more, that is a fair point. I preferred the days of physically buying an album and having to get home and play it but those days are long gone for me sadly.

Agree Nick, the top 5 bands on my Spotify I've practically got all their albums in one format or another apart from maybe Underworld as they have released a lot recently (most free for a limited time).  I think unless you're into the craze of buying vinyl again then what's the point - I've not bought a CD for a while.  Even the last 2 Devin Townsend releases I haven't bought and I'm a huge fan and spent a fortune buying his releases over the years.  Plus I'm off to see him at the RAH which is a pretty penny once travel and accommodation is factored in.

Blame it on the under 30's; I've financially supported the physical format for 40 years so taking advantage on Spotify for me is OK.  I remember looking at the Monthly listens on some artists i have.  Can't remember who it was but they had one listen - that was me, I felt privileged and I hope the artist got a kick out of someone listening to them on Spotify.

I completely forgot Girls not Grey even existed, been an age since I heard it! I've been trying to remember to drag these old songs and bands into a playlist whenever I'm reminded of them, otherwise I'll just forget them again.

The Daily Mixes on Spotify seem to do a solid enough job for me of dredging up old memories of tunes - although I have found in the last few months that the scope of them has narrowed a bit.

It's a strange one, mine is prog rock/prog metal/Electronica predominantly but it says I've listened to 91 genres.  For all I know 60 genres might be rock based.  I'd prefer to dig deeper down into what I've listened to and also like to know how many different artists/songs as well.

Top 5 Spotify songs for me in 2021:

Survival - Adult Mom
East Bound and Down - Jerry Reed
Get Bummed Out - Remember Sports
I'm Not Getting Excited - The Beths
North by North - The Bats

Weird mix of a couple of indiepoppers that only me and Hazell would consider listening to, the main theme from Smokey and the Bandit, and a song by an 80s New Zealand band that I'd somehow not happened across until this year.

Essentially listened to nothing from this millennium by the looks of it.

Top 5 songs:
Wish you were here - Pink Floyd
Gimme shelter - Rolling Stones
All along the watch tower - Jimi Hendrix
Paint it, black - Rolling Stones
A rainy night in Soho - The Pogues

Top artists:
The Beatles
Radiohead
Pink Floyd
Guns n roses
Nirvana

Top genres:
Classic rock
Grunge
Celtic
Hard rock
Folk rock

Think songs 5-15 are a better measure of what I deliberately put on rather than playing 70’s playlists on random:
Cowboys from hell - Pantera
Du hast - Rammstein (my 5 year old loves this)
Just breathe - Eddie Vedder (acoustic at home version)
Sultans of swing - Dire straits
The foggy dew - Chieftains and Sinead O Connor
