The Bradley Cooper episode of Smartless this week was incredible. Lots of tears on the show and I even shed a couple myself.

Released on Monday next week unless you have the sub (Prime or Wondery+) in which case it was out yesterday.

Really good Shaun Atwood podcast with an interview with an ex royal protection police officer who has nothing good to say about Andrew Windsor.

About to follow your suggestion and listen to this podcast. Was then looking through the available episodes and there are some impressive looking interviews in there. Thanks.

Just listened to the latest Marc Maron with a guy called Jason Candor. It is really interesting if you have any interest in the benefits of therapy to PTSD or similar issues.

Very topical with everything that's happening now politically, but this gives a thorough background on the Ledebevs and their relationship with the political establishment. It's called Londongrad.

I listened to this. It's good yeah. Not my favourite one though.

Genuinely surprising that the hosts are good friends and not just for the podcast.

Started listening to Our Thing this week.

If anyone isn't aware of it, it's the story of his time in the New York mob by Sammy 'The Bull' Garavano (ex under-boss of the Gambino family).

It's an intriguing listen, with him talking through all kinds of detail, from how he ended up being 'made', his first 'hit', and how it all changed for him and led him to turning states witness.

I'm literally finding jobs to do around the house just so I can stick my earphones in and get through another episode.

Anyone listened to the Murdaugh Murders podcast? I am 5 episodes in but it’s one of those that needs your attention so I find myself slow to go through them. But incredible story so far - a friend recommended it, so I know it gets a bit crazier.

Crime/murder pod.

If anyone enjoys ‘stories of old Hollywood’, the Marc Maron WTF has Al Ruddy. He produced The Godfather. He has classic tobacco gravel voice and just intertwines stories of actors, the mob and getting things done in Hollywood.

I’ve loved listening to Richard Herring down the years but his podcasts no longer seem to hold charm for me. It’s as if he has interviewed his massive network of celebrity friends and now he is down to interviewing people pushing books.
There is such a staggering amount of content out there now and props to Herring for running one of the best Trail Blazers.

I probably fee similar but he’s back with a new series and been some entertaining ones with Reece Shesrsmith and Sally Phillips (who he used to go out with, so it turned out). He’s recorded shows with Bob Mortimer too and also the Socially Distant Sports Bar crew as well.

On that note, I gave that a listen recently. I’m very late to the party and started with the most recent but finding it really enjoyable. Just three blokes chatting a mix of shite and sport and I’m finding it all very charming in a relaxed kind of way. Have heard Mike Bubbins on a few other things and he’s a good story teller.

He`s got a separate feed for the "book club" which i dip into if interested. The main show guests do seem to be less well-known folks these days (but that might just be me and the age i am!). As Nick said, however, he still has had some cracking guests this series and he`s interviewing people again after some years. His guest list doesnt exactly rival Marc Maron`s which is another one i dip in and out of. Interviewing David Baddiel in London soon apparently.

I second the recommendation, and they are 2 people I didn't really think I would enjoy listening to before I started.

My only issue with is that, while they both have completely genuine reasons to say they are Scottish, they do seem to spend a lot of the podcasts LARPing as some pastiche of Scottishness with the bagpipes and Stewarts constant mention of tartan trousers.

I've rattled through this pretty quick and enjoyed it.  Did all the "main" podcasts and now nearly done his "Fireside chats".

Just noticed there's a new Missing Crypto Queen episode so i'll jump into that next.

Some are an absolute delight…

I highly recommend Australia, Denmark and Costa Rica (Viva Don Pepé) …..

Spotify has 'Surviving El Chapo - the twins who brought down a drug lord' about the Flores twins, major cocaine dealers from Chicago who became Chapo's top distributors, and ended up taping their phone calls with him to get him put away for life.

If the subject matter piques your interest, get on it, because their story is amazing.

I've been enjoying the Slow Newscast podcast from Tortoise. It does deep dives into subjects currently in the news. Recent episodes are about Musk/Twitter, Crispin Odey and sexual assault allegations against him, and Unite the union, which touches on Joe Anderson and the trouble he is in.

Also Doomsday Watch, I don't like the title which put me off initially but its been doing excellent regular updates about Russia/Ukraine, as well as its regular series episodes about other geeopolitical issues.

Iain Dale's (ignore his politics if you need to, his guests are excellent and he doesn't do much talking) podcast about all of the PMs and US Presidents has just started it's 3rd series: The Taoisighs (Taoiseachs?). As the expert in the first episode said, it's criminal we in England know pretty much nothing of Irish internal politics since the Rising and partition. Unlike the others, it looks like he's going in chronological order, which is probably better given how opaque the century is to most of us over here.
If I were a linesman, I would execute defenders who applauded my offsides.
