The issue is that the players have to fit with how the coach wants to play the game. Someone has to provide the vision and the blueprint of how we play. That for me has to come from a football man and not a spreadsheet.

Agree, you need both. We had our best recruitments with Klopp and Edwards working together. Giving full power to the coaching team, was the dumbest move we made no matter how brilliant we might think Klopp and the coaching staff are.

I'm sure either Hamilton's move to Ferrari, or Alonso's decision to extend at Aston Martin is a result of him heading to one of those teams.

April 25th

1978 - Tommy Smith played his 638th and final reds game as we beat Arsenal at Anfield in the League. David Fairclough grabbed the only goal of the game as we secured the points to ensure our sixteenth consecutive season of European football.

1981 - Winger Howard Gayle scored his only reds goal, on his full debut, as we held Tottenham Hotspur to a 1-1 draw at White Hart Lane, with Glenn Hoddle netting one of his four goals past us for the home side.

1984 - An Ian Rush brace booked our place in a fourth European Cup Final, as we won 2-1 at Dinamo Bucureşti, to go through 3-1 on aggregate. Rush reached forty goals for the season in a match played in a fiery atmosphere after Graeme Souness had broken Lica Movilă’s jaw in the first leg at Anfield

1987 - Blues old boy Steve McMahon put us ahead against Everton at Anfield. Kevin Sheedy equalised with a free-kick past Mike Hooper, before flicking the V’s to the Kop. Ian Rush added two more to equal Dixie Dean’s derby scoring record of nineteen, as we won 3-1. However, our neighbours still went on to reclaim the League title.

2007 – Future red Joe Cole bagged the only goal of our Champions League Semi-final first leg defeat at Chelsea, as the Blues were unable to get past Pepe Reina a second time, despite an under-par reds performance. Jamie Carragher played his 89th European game, equalling Ian Callaghan’s club record. This was the first time we had faced the same team in European competition three consecutive seasons, as well as being the third round in a row in which Bolo Zenden had come up against a former employer, following ties with Barcelona and PSV Eindhoven.

2010 – Maxi Rodríguez bagged his first reds goal as we won 4-0 at Burnley, following seven away fixtures without victory. Steven Gerrard bagged a brace early in the second half to open the scoring, with David N’Gog also netting in injury time.

2015 - Fabio Borini made his 38th and last reds appearance as we were held to a goalless draw at West Brom

1978- Tommy was meant to retire a year later but stayed on after scoring in the European Cup Final, Tommy would likely have played the 1978 final but a DIY accident at home ruled him out.

1981- What a week for Howie Gayle, unfortunately that was height of it in a Liverpool shirt

1984- Graeme Souness was just a warrior wasnt he, I genuinely dont think he was afraid at all that night, what a ballsy performance all round

1987- McMahons goal was a belter, former Red Kevin Sheedy scored a cracking free kick for Everton but unfortunately made an arse of himself by giving the finger to the Kop in celebration.

2007- Dont recall anything great about that game, think Lampard missed a sitter? could be mixing it with another European night, but we were still in there with a shout

2010- It was funny when the Burnley fans laughed their heads off when Aquilani slipped near their goal and then Gerrard just planted one in the net

2015- Fairly non descript, cant remember much about it

That wouldn't explain the usual journalists coming out with the same thing at the same time.

It's 2 as far I can see, only Joyce mentioning Nkunku.

They haven't said anything we didn't know already. Nunez has become a bit of a scapegoat from the game, whether in Sky's coverage, fan reaction or newspaper reports (i.e. Joyce/Bascombe).

Might be, but I choose to believe it's not the case, because I'd rather not see Edwards & co as idiotic shitheads.

Him and Virgil do play like players who believe their own hype. I think we need a nasty number six with physical and technical ability to not only get them back into shape, but make us less of a soft touch. Endo and Mac have this to an extent but they are lacking the technicality and physicality respectively.
I sometimes think of players in three categories: The ones who need to be led and pushed, the ones who can lead and push others, and the ones who dont need to be pushed but also dont lead others. I would put Mac and Endo in the last category, and Trent in the first.
I also feel like we miss a leader in midfield.

Of course it's pathetic that a local lad and vice captain needs to be told on the pitch to focus, but that seems to be the case.

That's why Richard Hughes is the Sporting Director, you can't level the same throwaway remarks at him that you do for Edwards.

We keep talking Edwards as if he is the only one making decsions at the club. He doesn't want that else he would've taken the SD role back. He has gone higher up the chain and is looking at the overall philosophy of the club.

In all honesty, I don’t think it’s as bad as people are making out. Not great mind.

Ouch, not sure the day after the game is the right time.

Knicks are the team to beat for me in The East, Boston are a cupcake outfit and that Knicks side are as gritty as the 90's team in a best seven of series I fancy the Knicks to beat The Celtics in six as Knicks seem like they are a side built for the playoffs.
Nah, they shoupd have lost in 5 against 76ers id it wasnt for mind boggling ref decisions
