I think he’ll be back in some form in less than a year. He’s drained to fuck but he will be addicted to it in some form also. He said similar after Dortmund and his long planned break got cut way short in the end to come here.

He will definitely manage again, we just need to make sure its with us.

He's won titles in five countries, though. Sure, he was with big teams, but you can't underestimate how tricky it can be to adapt to new leagues, playing styles and dressing room cultures. The fact he's done it successfully so many times over that length of time is itself a big achievement.

As I said, he's obviously a great manager. But ultimately he's only won 5 league titles in 29 years of management, which for the most part has been with top level clubs (and Everton). It's really not that outlandish to say it's a little underwhelming - domestically.

Obviously Slot may go on to fail here and his career is likely to be much worse than Ancelotti's, but for me there is much more excitement in appointing someone's whose ceiling is unknown.

But hey, let's instead shit all all over the idea of hiring someone and laugh at anyone with a modicum of positivity instead.

Given that Voetbal International claim Feyenoord have expressed surprise with the speed we're moving, I'd assume another club must have had made Slot an offer. I noticed Rangnick has come out today and said Bayern have had talks with him this past weekend which makes me think Bayern might be that club (as opposed to Barcelona or Milan)
If Bayern had made him an offer he'd have accepted. Less of a domestic challenge, bankrolled financially, stepping into a failed manager's shoes, alongside a language and culture he'd be much more familiar with (given the adjacent border where he grew up).

I was thinking about next seasons pre match threads earlier and this also got me thinking about post match.

Not so much in what we the pre match writers do, but I wondered about closing all players threads at KO and not re-opening them until the next day?

This would help keep all discussion relating to the match in one place including player performances.

Once the initial post match thread calms down, we’re more likely to get considered opinions, thoughts etc which could improve the player threads and avoid some of the mud slinging and back and forth that currently makes them no go areas for some posters on here.

I know closing threads is probably a bit of a ball ache for mods but I think some of the match day Comms also have the ability.

Just an idea. Might be worth a trial, see how it works?

Good idea this.

The fixtures threads I post every week should probably be locked too. The same few posters nearly every game use them to post about our game while it's in play. Could just ban those fuckers though  :D

Replay Center, according to the LeBron interview. Anthony Davis just said "Jamal Murray made a shot", dropped the mic, and walked out. So much for elder statesmen. Fucking crybabies.

Lakers are crybabies indeed, the replay incident never affected the game as that was in the 3rd quarter when the Lakers were 20 points up, Lakers were poor in the second half & need to look at themselves as to why let a 20 point lead slip, the Lakers last possession, they should have wound the clock down further, & took the final shot with 2 or 3 seconds left on the game clock, the Lakers still had a few seconds left on the shot clock.

It’s sad to see how done he is with the job. I bet he’s counting down the days. He deserves the break. I genuinely think that will be him done with management, potentially a stint with Germany in a few years.

he actually looks like he is! Not been as active on the sidelines from what I’ve seen in recent games. Looks like a man who’s ready to go chill-out at home with his grandson and the rest of the Kloppo clan.

He’s always been a give it all type of coach, and he’s always said that if he can’t give it all he can't do the job. And he’d never go on like those managers who can’t walk away like Wenger, Hodgson and Ferguson.

23 years of that type of coaching and managing is going to take it’s toll.

I think he’ll be back in some form in less than a year. He’s drained to fuck but he will be addicted to it in some form also. He said similar after Dortmund and his long planned break got cut way short in the end to come here.

Honestly not sure if it’ll work out that way this time. But I agree that he isn’t done with football and will coach again. But at BVB he always said he wanted to go coach in the PL. But he’s done it now, he’s never really shown an interest in going to coach in countries where he can’t speak the language.

I'd bet we've been doing a lot of work behind the scenes for months, so by the time we reached the point where we were ready to make our intentions known pretty much every detail was already a known quantity.
Nah, reckon they just put all the names they know in a hat. They don’t have the in depth knowledge and understanding of these things like many posters in this thread to have actually done any research

Apparently Johnson's u-turn came shortly after a CIA intelligence briefing.

One of the nuts wants rid of him, his reason being that Mike brainwashed him with intelligence  ;D
