Sennheiser CX 300 - Update.

Well they arrived promptly from those nice people at play.com. And they are fab! I've been through a few pairs of headphones in my time and these are excellent. Really light don't-know-they're-there feeling is even more amazing when you hear the noises in and around your head - crisp, sharp, plenty of attack, sonorous bass, excellent stereo shaping. The only thing that bothered me in some of the reviews were comfort issues. Well, I can honestly say I have no problems on that score. There are three sets of earbuds in varying sizes. I've experimented with all three and gone for the smallest ones, which means the phones almost disappear inside the ear canal. But like I said, with no sense of wearing them. Weird, but nice. Highly recommended.

Nice 1 for the review, I should have a pair by the weekend!!! they will do for me

Be wary of the fakes on E-Bay.

have a look here

and here

I bought these as they don't look like fake and the packaging seemed right with leaflet etc.

Whether thaey are fake or not, I couldn't tell you, but they do sound good.
I might have single handedly ruined Warrington's picture houses, but personally thought my pocket money was better spent at Anfield.

I did spot the article about fakes when I was looking at the listings, but the ones I've linked to are UK based, retail packaged and the images shows them as having the Silver 'L' shaped jack rather than the gold straight jack.  He also says further down that they are genuine.  I'll get them and them compare the other stuff like cord length and bud size etc.

Had a pair of the CX-300s, wasn't that keen on them to be honest. I actually think that the earphones that come with iPods nowadays are considerably better than they used to be and are perfectly usable for 90% of users, the non-audiophiles.

My first iPod was a 5GB First Gen in 2001, the headphones were horrific.

I bought the headphones from the eBay seller in the end.  They arrived this morning and were in a retail packaging as opposed to an OEM bag which is the 1st sign to look for when trying to spot the fakes.  Here's a photo of what arrived: -

http://www.graeme.myby.co.uk/headphones.jpg

I've opened them up and measured the cable lengths against the fake CX300 guide on eBay and all three measurements are identical to the ones for the genuine ones.  The jack is also the silver 'L' shape opposed to the straight gold plated jack which the fakes have.

I've scoured about 3 or 4 guides on the net which all give different things to look at and on all of them they seem to match up to the genuine article, so I'm 99% satisfied that they're genuine.  The 1% niggle is just the low price I paid.

Yes they do.  I can't say that I've been blown away by the sound quality, but that's switching from a pair of Sony MDR-EX71 SL which are considiered by some to be the best on the market.  Some people say that the CX300's are so thought I'd give them a go.  Both very similar in terms of sound quality.

Those who missed out on the Klipsch might want to get the Audica MPS 1 from bigpockets next week:

Looks like they're not as powerful but a bit more pleasing to the eye. Excellent reviews and a similar high original price.

Build your own PVR for £8.99

http://www.bigpockets.co.uk/product.php?lang=&product=HW360&session=bcf5d82091ca4b82e997b84fff045c27

Just need a spare hard drive.

That looks like a fucking good deal.

Does anyone know how easy it would be to actually fit the hardrive? Would it just be a case of plugging it and putting the case back on? I've made myself an external hardrive before, is it a similar thing? Will it only take a certain hardrive?

If anyone can answer any of these questions that would be appreciated.

What format does the PVR save the programs as? (i.e. .mpg, .avi etc) Can you watch existing videos on the hard-dive using the PVR if they are in the correct format? Ta.

I would imagine it is industry standard i.e. mpeg2.

I bought one of those PVRs off bigpockets and installed a 160GB hard drive which I got off Ebuyer but for one reason or another it isn't recording. If I press record and set it to record for an hour the timer never starts to count down and just stays stuck on 1 hour. Its also not responded a number of times to the remote or even using the buttons on the box itself. The only thing I've managed to record was an hour or so of SSN when I came in bladdered the other night. Might it have something to do with the pin position on the hard drive or is it the box itself? If anyone can help that'd be appreciated.

I think those PVR's were a bit of a gamble. From reading the thread on HUKdeals it seems there are problems with the bioses on some of the units. You need to check which bios you're machine is running, if they come out with a revision then you're laughing but if not you may not be able to get it running...

TESCO stores are knocking out HP D4260 inkjet printers for £29.97 until 18 March.

Obviously it is a basic model, but at least you get the assurance of a good brand.

And I've just checked on AMAZON, where it is £56.90, so the TESCO price seems like a genuine bargain.

More of a request - I'm looking for the best priced DVD player that upscales and has a USB 2.0 port; by best priced, not necessarily the cheapest but best value for money.

I've found one but it's not been in stock the last 2 months now.
