The level of insight on MOTD these days is really down the toilet. I'm not asking for Carragher MNF detail but an original comment once in a while would be refreshing. Pointing out the obvious in their analysis and then showing a few clips of a standout player... it's so dumbed down.

Jermaine Jenas tying himself in knots over the England manager job was astonishing. He reckons they ought to have someone like Hoddle taking over whilst showing the ropes to a younger man like Lampard (good grief  :o !). Lineker pointed out that they kind of did that with Hodgson and Neville and that the younger one just gets sacked along with the manager when in all goes wrong anyway. Jenas then seemed to do a 180 degree turn and say that it gets complicated if you have a younger man in there helping as he might have his own ideas, the two might not agree and it would be confusing for the players.  All in the space of 90 seconds.

He's got paid for that and no-one will give him any sort of professional appraisal. They just keep getting invited back.

I think whether MOTD was on BBC or the equivalent on ITV, you don't have time for in depth analysis, but you do kind of need charisma and personality and Shearer has none, neither does Jenas. So i agree with the Keane comment or other types of characters.

Yeah that was embarrassing Kekule. I do agree with his point that the FA should try and keep players like Gerrard and Lampard involved to some level, maybe coaching the younger teams.

He is a client of SFX.

The same as Lineker, Shearer, Hansen, Lawrenson, Murphy etc.

It is pretty much the only requirement for getting a gig on MOTD.

That was the other thing that annoyed me. Now I really don't give a shit about England but if you pay attention to any sort of football in this country you have to listen to tits like Shearer who do. Every couple of years they moan about England not being a team and not gelling like the other perceived "lesser" sides. Then in the interim period the same knobheads want to give limited journeymen like Troy Deeney, who are never going to be world beater and need the team to play to their strengths, a go as some sort of reward.

Now either the England team is to be used for rewarding not very good players who are making a go of their careers or it's a serious team that needs an element of consistency in order to grow so it can compete for major international honours. I don't give a shit which one it is but gobshites like Shearer need to pick an option and stick with it, and stop annoying the rest of us by switching between the two and pretending to get angry.
