Next Thursday.

Cheers.

Just saw the replay of the sending off. All I can say is that it was extremely soft. Taylor is such a shit ref.
Can't believe I decide to watch a Europa league game and I still have to put up with shite english refereeing.

I can see Benfica scoring again. And unless Napoli get an away goal it'll most likely be an Arsenal - Benfica semi final. You really have to fancy Arsenal if that ends up happening.

Arsenal will play Villarreal or Valencia if they go throug.

4-1 I'd have thought it, but that 2nd goal will give then one hell of a lift for the 2nd leg. The Waldstadion will be packed and absolutely rocking.  Hopefully Seb Haller will be fit for the 2nd leg too.

Ironically that 2nd goal was scored by a Portuguese player who used to play for Benfica's biggest rivals: Porto.

Seems to be linked to a lot of big clubs (and tentative links to us in January)- how has he played?

He looked excellent. As others have mentioned Frankfurts setup was very open but he did look a level above.

At 4-2 you'd think that Frankfurt are out, but the way they played with 10 men against Benfica has me questioning that. I think the 2nd leg in Frankfurt has the potential of being a good game to watch.

Very much looking forward to seeing what happens in Frankfurt.

Arsenal are no different to the teams of the past 10 years. Koscielny isn’t in the top 10 of Premiership centre backs. Yet he’s far and away Arsenal’s best defender.

They have so many players who have loads of ability, but so little character.

Ozil and Mkhitaryan are prime examples. There are others.

Quite amazing what's happened to Villarreal recently. They've gone from perennial top 4 challengers to being in all kinds of shit in La Liga. Not often I advocate being out of this competition but they're an exception. They need all their eggs in one basket quick sharp.

He is only 19.
So young, Benfica really needs to stop selling those kids after 12 years of youth academy and 30 games of main team. What kind of future is that?

After the minor appetiser of the last couple of days, Europe's elite are back in action tonight, the one everyone is waiting for.

Id love an early Arsenal goal, do a Liverpool and cruise through.

We could end up with all-English finals in both European competitions.  :o

I reckon Chelsea will get a routine win here, probably 3-0. Arsenal I think will lose 2-1 but go through.

I see they didn't. Either way, they totally should. All-red with their white sleeves looks gorgeous.

Arsenal Chelsea final ?

While that's a real possibility, Spanish teams in the Europa League are not to be underestimated. Valencia are set to be their representative there and might cause Arsenal quite a bit of trouble in that semi.

Benfica might trouble Chelsea a bit too, they're in great forum and João Félix is flying.

Arsenal-Chelsea would be way more likely than Valencia-Benfica for me, but the latter wouldn't be impossible at all. Anyway, all I care about is that whoever of Arsenal and Chelsea that would win it also finishes in the top 4 so that there won't be a fifth club in the CL next year. We could do with two of the top six missing out to avert transfer market competitiveness for the extra club and economic advantages for ourselves. The fewer English clubs there are, the larger the TV pot and two of the clubs missing out also helps us for revenue advantages otherwise in that it decreases a competitiors' revenue.
