good performance, took our chances in the main, they were pushing hard towards the end throwing players on, so that was always going to be a touch and go period, saw it out with a bit of luck due to their poor finishing

pretty neat all round

i've never said anything about martin tyler's commentary on our games but fuck me, what a fucking tool, negative shit from start to finish, seemingly willing them to score as the second half wore on, it was so fucking blatant - conversely alan smith while acknowledging our recent problems was full of appropriate praise and calling the game as he saw it, which made tyler's bullshit waffle even more stark

Great result. Little bit lucky at the end not to conceed but overall, fully deserved.
Kabak looks handy enough. Nice having a somewhat experienced defender back in. He has bags of potential for a 20 year old.

Not getting ahead of myself here considering the quality left in this tie nevermind the teams still in the CL, but I'd sleep soundly in the summer with no. 7, regardless how we do in the PL.

Good win that. They made two huge errors and was nice to see us pounce on them for once like the opposition do ours. Kabak looked composed and Jones played a mature game. Hopefully we can use this result to help with confidence.

Would have amounted to nothing without the work rate and professionalism that went with it - but the two combined made for a lovely night's footy

Nice to have officials ref a match according to the laws rather than their prejudices. I especially like them putting the flags up immediately when there’s an offside. Perhaps our lot should try that?

Jones has all the makings of a top class player, he just needs to release the forwards quicker. Kabak looks solid.

Great performance and victory I really do think we should go "all in" for the CL this season.

Fantastic team performance, really impressed with how we saw the game out and limited Leipzig to pretty much that one chance at the end.
Henderson man of the match for me, with Jones a close second. Kabak deserves a mention, I thought he was solid to begin with then grew into the game and got more confident as it went.
Lovely to see Mané getting back to scoring ways, Salah is a machine!

Was refreshing to play against a team that didn't just sit back with 10 men behind the ball for 85 minutes (not that that's been a bad strategy against us recently, unfortunately, but doesn't half make for a grim watch sometimes).

Even though VAR would have given us a better look at that disallowed Firmino goal (only saw two replays at normal speed, and couldn't tell if it was actually completely out), it was actually quite nice to just have the ref make the call and move on without interminable waiting around and checks and double checks. Obviously easier to say that when we win, though!

Really good energy from us throughout the game - thought we looked a lot sharper and pressured Leipzig into making mistakes. Now to carry this momentum into the derby and dish out some serious revenge for October (ok, I'll settle for a scrappy 1-0 win and no more of our players getting butchered).

Excellent result and our best performance for what feels like a long time. I wrote in the pre-match thread about how important getting a few away goals in a tie like this can be so great to see us throw our weight around and esentially beat Leipzig before playing the second leg. On paper, this is a very tricky tie. I don't care how bad we are at home, we really should be through now!

Kabak also looked good when called upon!

We were really good, I thought Kabak was a bit verry for the first 15-20 minutes but he really grew in to the game and was excellent. Jones - wow, he was fantastic today too.

They had two good chances and luckily missed both but we had three to four really good chances too which we didn't do too well with or fluffed the shot.

The pleasing this is we're putting the performances in now and while we still had 1-2 nervy moments we are playing a lot better now - onwards and upwards reds.

Well played lads, thought we were excellent, great save from Ali when it was 0-0 and couple of nice smash and grabs from Mo and Sadio

Thought Kabak looked very good, Curtis was lively and Trent was back to his best. Didn't comment on the Leicester game but I thought we did superbly for first 75 minutes before some defensive lapses cost us.

How about Bayern's new toy though!
