To be honest if there is one thing that annoys me about certain types of PC gamers, it's stuff like this. Are they seriously going to play the game and feel as though they've been ripped off because a crack in the wall is barely visible?

To be honest the one thing that annoys me about game developers is don't advertise your game to be something it isn't.

It's not about one crack or one blade of grass and it's not about one platform or another, the game has been downgraded across the board.

Just got this free with my new graphics card, can't wait was going pick it up on ps4 but hey might as well enjoy such beautiful game on pc.
Liverpool manager Rafael Benítez admitted after the match that the manner of his side's victory had stunned him and he stated: "My problem is that I don't have words to express the things that I feel at this moment"

You'd think gamers would have learned to reign in their expectations  by now. This happens for every game. The developers didn't know last year what the final product would look like.

It happens now...back in the old C&VG days, the games used to come out looking better than the screenshots...or at least that's how I remember it. They would work up until release day to improve it.

Now they make some amazing CGI fake-up two years in advance, we all swallow it, and they furiously spend the days up to release trying to downgrade everything in order for it to actually be a game, with moving characters and bearable frame rate, etc., all those unimportant details ;D

Does seem arse backwards. Still, I loved the second game and this is bound to look better so I'm not really bothered.

Yeah, got it as well with my graphics card (and I also have a code for Batman Arkham Knight). I have watched some gameplay-videos and I think it looks nice. I've also decided to give Witcher 2 another go and I've never come this far. I just put the difficulty on "Easy". It means that the fights are absolutely no challenge anymore, but it also means that I'm not getting angry because of the stupid controls. Having finished the Prologue it actually looks like I might enjoy the game after all. Hope I'll be done when the third game is released next week... ;)

As far as the discussion about downgrading is concerned, I kind of think both sides are idiots. Developers/publishers for releasing footage that they probably know will never be like the final game. And gamers who get sucked in by the hype and concentrate on the graphics. It might just be me (having grown up with games being text-based or with the simplest graphics), but to me almost every game nowadays looks awesome and I don't really see when some textures aren't up to standard or something else is wrong...

Fair call, guess releasing stuff like they have really early is goign to give people that put images like those a bit of ammo though as well. But a game can change a lot over the course of development and i'm guessing they've had to make those changes to make the game a better experience overall. The game looks amazing enough as it is from the latest gameplay vid, i just don't see why there are certain types of people that feel the need to pick it apart and the likes, it's not going to ruin anything when they go to play it.

Not necessarily, games are often made to look as good as possible on consoles and then the quality of the PC version is decreased to match so that the consoles don't look bad. Someone hacked the settings for WatchDogs on PC a while back and switched the graphics to 'marketing mode' which immediately made the game look twice as good. It seems Microsoft and Sony don't want their hardware to look weak in comparison shots.

Just tried playing the witcher 2, it's such a clunky experience. throws every shortcut at you in the opening chapter you could think of and it just overwhelms you.

i enjoy rpg's but one that mimics itself as complex shortcut tutorial. nah

Caved and ordered this along with MGSV: The Phantom Pain in that Tesco 2 for £80 thing, with the £10 off code then as well. My clubcard points vouchers made it like £32 or something each in the end, so not bad at all considering I'll get to play them both on release now.

Really gotta stop buying new games when I've completed hardly any of what I've already got, but it's difficult when they're getting acclaimed as "The best [X] game ever" by decent sources. No doubt in my mind that as long as Kojima's sacking hasn't had a big effect on the finished game, MGS5 will be one of if not the best example of its genre as well. No more new purchases until No Man's Sky for me now though!  :P

Consoles are great, but for games like this, that push the limits of hardware, a PC is a better (and more expensive, sadly) choice.

EDIT: Don't get me wrong, it's still going to be amazing on PS4 or XB1.  :P
