It called 'The Longest Yard'. I dont think it is out yet, just watched it on DVD and its quite good.

Its in the same vein as Mean Machine with a lot of of the jokes lifted straight from our version. Well we copied them in first place though. Its American Football this time and hosts a lot of stars including Chris Rock, Burt Renolds, Nelly, Stone cold Steve Austin, Goldberg and that prick who always says 'You can do it!' in all of his movies.

Anyway when its out over here its worth taking a look even though it will have you shouting 'rip off' most of the time.

It IS Mean Machine.

The original Burt Reynolds movie was released as "The Longest Yard" in the US and "Mean Machine" in the UK.

Therefore, Americans thought Vinnie Jones's "Mean Machine" was ripping off "The Longest Yard", but in fact it was a re-make.

Confused? I am.

It is a Yank remake of a british remake of a yank film, it just gets worse

Anybody else watch this ? 

I loved the original "Mean Machine"/"Longest Yard" with Burt Reynolds, but didn't get around to watching the Vinny Jones version, and I am considering what to watch in the cinema tonight (being good and not gonna drink before footie tomorrow morning).

The other choice is that forty year old virgin one.

Longest Yard (remake) is pretty dire. Cliched and not particularly funny.

Thought Punch Drunk Love was excellent though.
