One timeout remaining for each team.

I remember the Oakland Raiders scoring 3 touchdowns in the last 2 minutes to beat the Jets..the infamous "Heidi" game where the networks thought the game was over and cut to the movie...

But the large lady is getting her voice ready..

I eat my hat

Time for Heidi then!

What a comeback by the Texans! Suprised the USC Defence crumbled like that

Nah....  I thought Vince Young said earlier this year he was staying in college.  This kid is cool as steel though.

But it is a nice dilemma for the Texans to have.  If I were any of the top players though, I would hesitate to play for the Texans.

In any case, I have never seen any game like this in College Football (and I thought yesterday's game was heart stopping)

And who says American fans can't sing?!?

Did you hear 45000 or so Texans singing "The Eyes of Texas" at the end? Great stuff!

I'm an Ohio State fan, and this is so reminiscent of 2002-2003 and the great ending of that game. Texas came into Columbus and beat the Buckeyes in front of 105000 and came into basically USC's backyard and did the job when they had to. Not as stunning as coming back from 3-0 at halftime, but for this sport...it's pretty damn close, and every last Longhorn supporter is going to celebrate like it was Istanbul.

Let's see if anyone can change this tune...

The Eyes of Texas are upon you,
All the live long day.
The Eyes of Texas are upon you,
You can not get away.
Do not think you can escape them
At night or early in the morn-
The Eyes of Texas are upon you
'Till Gabriel blows his horn.

Look at someone like Leinart: they assured him he'd collect another Heisman this season, and would go at number one pick....there are no guarantees even at College level. Young has a shocking throwing motion, but has the best pass efficiency in college football. If one of the top 5 draft teams guarantees him to go then with a juicy contract, you never know what he might do. He was the standout for this game, and if he went into the draft I would think he'd have to go at number one. He might be advised to strike while the iron is hot.

I see your point.  The 'risk' is he might go at #1, and get picked by the Texans.  Now if he goes at #3, he gets picked by Coach Fisher and grows under McNair, and becomes a top NFL QB.  How will he develop with the rudderless Texans?

By the way he was talking after the game, he has planned to come back.  But yes, he probably should strike the iron while it is still hot as there are no guarantee in (American) Football.

PS how can anyone be so calm and so cool?  Even Steven Gerrard was more psyched up in Istanbul!  This kid never even celebrated that last TD!!!

By the way, the best NFL prospect in this game was White, IMO. He has NFL quality written all over him, but lets face it running back is not the most important position in the game. White will go in the first round you'd think.

Young's only problem is that there is no Plan C. Plan A might be to pass it, and if Plan A fails, he goes to Plan B, which is to run it. That's his biggest strength and his biggest weakness; when in trouble he always runs. He won't have that luxury at an NFL level, simply because it's another level up again: he'd be running against super quick monsters who will split a long strider like him open like an axe through a tin can. The Texas win may mean he'll be in the NFL next year, though.

There was no way he was throwing that ball on 4th and 5 when he had been gaining nearly 10 a play running it. He was confident that he could do it again, and he did. He did the same thing to my Buckeyes.

FFS, to think that this would have been Ohio State if they had gotten the job done at home against the (now) National Champions...

That is exactly what I mean by Young playing under a coach who knows what's what (Like Fisher).

Completely agree with your comments on White.

Yeah, that last drive was unbelievable: his decision making is phenomenal for someone of his age. As you say, super cool under pressure....and his lack of celebration shows he's emotionally disconnected from the game: he's just won the biggest game of his career almost single handed, and he could barely raise a smile. To me that is a fantastic quality in a quarterback...emotion impedes execution, so for me he has the perfect attitude for the pros; possibly next time, though, someone might want to tell him the game is over so he can give the crowd a wave and a smile!!

By the way, in an inteview after the game Young said the old: "I have to sit down with my family and discuss my future" thing.

Looks like he's backtracking on saying he'll stay at Texas next season....though obviously that doesn't mean he'll be definitely going to the NFL.

It's a similar quality that Giants QB Eli Manning has...some of his teammates wonder if he even has a pulse.

Can't see Vince Young making it big in the NFL. He had a terrific game last night but is not a great passer and his running skills can only go so far at the next level. He'll get a lot of money but if I'm a GM I'm not drafting him to play qb.

Ohio State fan are ya? I'm in Ohio State :p

Thought the same thing meself - if we hadn't fucked up against Texas, there was no way we'd have lost to Penn State: personally I think Penn State are rather awful (Everton last year anyone - overachieveing?) and OSU really should've been in the national championship this year if they'd have got their act together earlier.

Also, Americans CAN'T sing - did you hear them chanting "D-FENSE" etc...

Personally don't think much of American football - honestly speaking, how much pure SKILL does it require to play? Far more based on athleticism and body build more than anything else (bar the quarter back).

Any game that requires cheerleaders to keep a crowd excited, I don't have much respect for. Mind you, I do have respect for how intense rivalries etc are though in college football.

I beg to differ.  He has a very good completion percentage (damn stats again, eh?), is tall and can see above the defenders. He can run with the ball extremely well - which is surprising for a lad who is 6 ft 5 in tall (and 233 lbs to boot).

He has been performing like this consistently for the past 19 games plus has youth on his side.

He is good and is going to be good.
