Unlike the Charity Shield this is a proper trophy, this goes on the wall at the club and Klopp will be out to win it..

                                                    Adrian

                                   Gomez        Matip         VVD      Robertson

                                                        Fabinho

                                         Hendo                 Gini

                                  Salah            Firmino           Mane

Agree, we would should (and probably will) go full force, and worry about Southampton at the weekend another day.

Mane will be holding the presser alongside Virgil, which seems to indicate that the will start in this match

Not necessarily. He's probably been picked because most of the other candidates have had interviews around the pre season matches.

I think he'll start on the bench and then start at Southampton, but that's just a wild guess.

I want us to go all out to win this, and preferably within 90 minutes as we play on Saturday and Chelsea don't play until Sunday. It has been way too long since the Champions Wall was updated.

Agree totally.  Two months is far too long.  8)

I am not sure how much you've paid attention to these things [when it comes to European matches] 99.99 percent of the time any player who has given the interview the day before the match has started in said match.

I can't recall the last time that wasn't the case in the last 2 years.

It's a shame they dont just play the match in Monaco's stadium anymore. Always a nice stadium. Always hot enough and easy to get to

Its early enough in the season to go all out for us. Get some full throttle minutes in those legs

The Chelsea result on Sunday flattered the mancs but there was enough on show with their system to know we're capable of pressing them out of the game pretty easily.

I dont see Fat Frank being that type of manager and besides does he have the personnel for such a style? Not really been following them but will any of their injured players be back for this?

Kante may start, Rudiger may as well although he's just returning from injury.

Back five pretty much picks itself, unless Klopp starts Gomez instead of Trent. Hopefully we see some rotation in midfield and Keita and/or Oxlade-Chamberlain get some minutes. I fully expect Mane, Firmino, and Salah to start in attack.

Judging by their performance last weekend, we should tear them to shreds on the counter. 3-0.

Yeah I think the probability is with you. But this isn't a normal match. And VVD was there and we know he's starting, so it's not the same as only sending a bench player to do an interview for a CL game

That would be a pity.  :)

I reckon he goes the team which started in Madrid save for Adrian for Alisson and Milner in for Gini.

No Kante, if he's out, is a serious blow to them based on Sunday's evidence.

Good. With Hazard gone he's even more important to Chelsea than anyone in my opinion if he's put back in his natural position and if they play open football. He's like that straw in Kerplunk that if you remove it could be absolute chaos

So they will most likely go with a Jorginho, Kovacic, Mount midfield again. Excellent.

That's good as they're incapable of defending in midfield without him. They're good on the ball but their defensive positioning is a mess. So we need to exploit that. Hopefully Keita starts. I imagine Fabinho is a certainty.

I would love to see a midfield of Fabinho,Ox and Keita. Would be a good match to put it to the test as I think they have all the balance needed to dominate a match like this.

My guess

Adrian

Trent
Matip
Van Dijk
Robertson

Fabinho
Keita
Ox

Salah
Firmino
Mane

Jorginho, Kovacic and Mount are all very technical players and will be able to progress the ball through midfield.  We really need either Ox or Keita in there to do the same for us, we'll out-battle them whatever happens, but that's no good if our midfield can't get on the ball.

Looking forward to seeing the female ref take charge, hope it goes well for her. I imagine the players might be slightly less likely to surround her and yell in her face if they don't get the decision they want.
