A mess thus far. We are too easy to play against. We give the opposition everything that they want.

Midfield is something else, I’m sure next summer or maybe next, next summer it might be fixed.

Every side now targeting Trent

Today it's only been successful because Elliot hasn't been able to give any sort of defensive cover whatsoever. As good as he has been with the ball, he has not been great helping out at the back

It's either a hangover from last season or Klopp and co have got the training regiment completely wrong, either way I'm 45 minutes away from putting a line through the season, not based on the results, but the performances. Something is fundamentally wrong with this side at the moment, and they aren't looking like fixing it any time soon.

VVD has that cockiness that Maguire had a few seasons ago when he thought he was the shit. Needs to be more focused and aggressive.

So much the 0-4 winning margins most of us suggested in the pre-match thread. We've been lucky that they aren't 2 goals up.

The back five have all been poor. Alisson looking edgy is unsettling everyone. Trent has been dreadful defensively, Robertson sloppily giving the ball away, Gomez slow into the tackle and not closing people down, and Virgil, he was so poor for the goal, he really needs to close the man down while Sancho was controlling the ball for God's sake, instead he just stands there.

We also seem to have become incredibly poor at shooting, so many shanked, pulled and sliced efforts on goals.

Our defending has reminded me of the 7-2 loss at Villa.

Well that was infuriating.  ;D

United started fast and bright, but progressively retreated into their own half/box as the game went on. They've had an uncanny ability to get a toe, boot or body in the way at just the right time.

We've played like a loose bowl of spaghetti for large parts of the game, but are still in it. I think we need to be more direct. We seem to be trying to thread the ball through a sea of legs and seem cagey and nervous with the ball. Players need to be using their heads more. Game is by no means done, but I fear another sucker punch.

Winning is a habit, but then is so is conceding early goals - this team is clearly stuck in a rut. Felt the team would concede aft4er the first few minutes. LFC only improved once United tired and even then didnt create any clear chances. Cant remember a shot on target. I'm not even angry as I was half expecting this type of performance which is entirely in keeping with the start to season. Would be amazed if LFC win this - will do well to draw

As they fucking should, cause he doesn't fucking learn

What can be learn to do when’s he’s doubled up on constantly? United have been shit recently but they aren’t shit wingers running at him.

With the age of the midfield this is the worst side we’ve put out in years.

The annoying thing is, United aren’t playing that great here. Ignore the Sky hyperbole and they’ve been impressively energetic but that’s it. At our best we demolish them tonight. City would be out of sight already.

We’re making them look good.

City don’t carry players like Milner and Henderson in the team and certainly don’t start them together.

Hard to lay the blame solely on the back 4, that midfield is in shambles. Get Milner off and bring on Fab, we need to actually move the ball.

The same Fab who has been well below his best so far this season? And that's the problem too many of our players are no where near their form at the moment. It's causing issues all over the place, but we have to play our way back in. When we are passing slickly as we did at times they are struggling with us, but we are giving up possession very carelessly and that's giving us issues.

7th game in a row in the league we've conceded first and we're looking like about 50% of ourselves out there.

We have a lot of players missing but these players we have on the pitch are still top players normally.

I hope it’s not one of those games where the same side comes out for the start of the second half as the game could be done and dusted by then
We’ve made them look like title challengers sadly though if we keep having to play a midfield like tonight then they’ll be closer to it than us

Milner should have slapped van Dijk across the face for that piece of 'defending'. Holy shit that was comically bad.

Surely when you concede first every game some has to twig that the teams not right.
Milner and Henderson can’t play in the same midfield, don’t care how many injuries there are.
As much as it tears me up to say Firminos done, he offers nothing now.
It’s going to be a long season if FSG don’t get a grip.

Looked to be getting into the game towards the end of the half without creating a lot. Trouble is, the opposition are setting traps and we're getting caught every game now, doesn't take a lot to create a big chance vs us.
I feel for Milner, he can't live with this.

Seven games in a row in the league where we have conceded first. We all know the midfield needs sorting out but its a worry we are conceding goals so easily.

Easily our worst performance under Klopp. Embarrassingly poor.
Not even close. People are way overreacting here. We were far better in the last 15. They were starting to look tired.

Reminded me of watching us in the 90s. Lots of possession, pretty football that requires 10 perfect passes to create a chance while the opposition just need to lump it forward to create a chance.

Of course we’re unlucky with injuries but the owners have allowed the club to stand still while our rivals have all strengthened.

They absoluitely hammered us for 20 minutes and we couldn't cope. Lots more space now but we look so toothless. Not good, feel this could be a long first half of the season.

A hopeless start to the season continues. It really seems like a lingering hangover from going all-in last season and falling short in horrible circumstances for the big 2.

I think this season is going to be a slog.

The worrying thing is that our performances do not seem to be improving.

Oh fuck off you bunch of whining blurts. It’s obvious where the problems are for us, look at the starting 11 and then look at the bench… we win 3-1.

Yep. Our biggest miss is Fabinho.
Without him there, our rhythm is disturbed and teams have a free run through the midfield and the half-spaces on the flank.

For all the talk of the midfield that defence is an absolute shambles at the moment

Hangover from the champions league loss and finishing 2nd in the league again seems real. Loss of motivation?

Part of the reason that the defence is a shambles at the moment is the lack of a coherent midfield in front of it. That's notwithstanding Trent's absolutely dire dip in form. Kind of similar in many regards to the centre back crisis of the season before last where midfield was emptied out on occasions to fill that position and we suffered the knock on effects.

Anyway. Fab on now please.
The fans here are the greatest in the land. They know the game and they know what they want to see. The people on the Kop make you feel great - yet humble. I'm just one of the people...
