If it's a 1980's Bond movie, no-one will love it, trust me.

Yeah not the greatest period for the bond films, agreed.

Guest starring Christopher Lloyd?

Disappointingly not.

The Elephant Man and Inland Empire are my only two Lynch's blind spots. Inland Empire sounds like one of his most challenging films, but not sure why I've never seen The Elephant Man. I even have a great 4K version of it sitting somewhere in here. Will definitely give it a watch now.

Elephant Man is fantastic. It's Lynchian in many ways with dream sequences and slightly off-kilter acting. However, it's also his most humanistic film. John Hurt and Anthony Hopkins are brilliant in it.

I really like The Elephant Man, though it doesn't feel that Lynchian to me. Inland Empire is a huge mess from what I can remember, and it's one of those early digital films that's ugly as sin too.

I genuinely thought Chakan was gonna pick one of those schlock exploitation/horror films from the 80s.

I mean it has George Clooney in it, so it must be good

I have actually only seen the Powerpuff girls episode satirizing the film. I think they had killer broccoli in that one.

Too many gifs do spoil the broth.

My pick here was the second film I ever saw at the cinema (after E.T.) on a wet holiday in Wales. Think I’d have been five which is why I crapped myself through parts of it. Cracking film though.

I know Raiders is technically the best Indiana Jones movie, but I think Temple of Doom is probably my favourite. I love that it goes so dark at times, and some of the set pieces, especially the mine cart chase scene, are some of the most thrilling action scenes ever made. Great pick.

Yeah I think it's definitely the most fun of the Indiana Jones movies. Plus if you think about it, Indiana Jones has absolutely no effect in the raiders movie.

The bug scene from Temple freaked me out for years.

Yeah, the lack of agency from the main characters on the final of Raiders always puzzled me, even though I still liked it because of how dark it got.

I absolutely love Steve Martin in it. It's of my favorite roles for him. Plus i'm a sucker for a really good musical.

After Hours is a great pick. One of Scorsese's most underrated movies, along with Bringing out the Dead. Was thinking about it for adventure, a nighttime adventure, but it isn't listed as that by those c*nts in Letterboxd.

Bringing out the Dead has been on my watchlist for a while, I really want to watch it but feels like you have to be in the right mindset. Everyone says it's brilliant though.

Yeah, it's certainly a nighttime movie I would say. It's pretty fast-paced, as much as I remember it, but it gets pretty dark and surreal at times. It sort of reminds me of Good Time by the Safdie brother. So yeah not one to watch with the kids but a great movie anyway. Highly recommend it.

Highly recommend it, but yeah it's one of those you have to be in a certain mood for.

Will definitely give it a watch, thanks.

Just checking on the picks and wondered if Weird Science would go early or late (or at all)

Pick 3 - way to go Hazell!!

Often overshadowed by other teen movies of the mid-80's such as Back to the Future and Ferris Bueller, Weird Science is a underrated classic
