Frankly, they'd be crazy not to go with Rodgers. The only person who'd be on that level would be Poch, who the fans would turn on at the first opportunity because of his Spurs connection. Rodgers has his shortcomings but he also has a track record of being tactically shrewd and improving young players - exactly what they need.

Bonkers.

If anything, Chelsea are even more mental than they were under Abramovich.

I don't think Bohley understands the concept of football. He probably thinks he is an owner of a NFL team with overtime and field goals etc.

Yeah Rodgers would be perfect for them, really hope they dont get him.

That is some short fuse their new owner has. They replace half a team and he can't wait a few weeks for them to get at least a bit used to playing with each other. Crazy, but not unexpected. Who next is the question? Pochetino perhaps, not many great managers out there.
It's probably because they are not loaded anymore. They backed him to the hilt in the transfer yet it is already clear that they won't win the league. It's a total waste to spend €300m to go from challenging for a place in the top 4 to challenging for a place in the top 4.

I would love it if Frank went back, just for the fewm at the pit.

I hope not. He's a good manager

Yikes I never saw that coming. I guess the owners fell out with Tuchel or maybe they just didn't like him criticising the players. Parker did a similar thing recently and he was sacked.

The timing is a bit bizzare even if the recent results weren't great. Maybe Tuchel and the owners had words and the owners decided that they don't want a person who is a bit of a loose cannon.

I kinda liked Tuchel as he was never predictable. I always thought he was a bit unhinged. Wouldn't want him near us but it was funny watching him.

I guess Poch may be his replacement as there isn't a huge pot of talented managers sitting about.

Screaming “pick the damned ball up” from his directors’ box.

Stupid move from them. There aren’t that many too coaches available and there is no guarantee someone like Potter is ready to step up to CL football and managing mega stars yet. The sooner Guardiola leaves City the better. Hopefully they will start to act like Chelsea and have a manager merry go round.

Potter is obviously a great manager, but going from what he has at Brighton to the circus at Chelsea will be an enormous change for him. I feel as though they'd be better suited to an Ancelotti type, and Potter would be better suited to Arsenal/Spurs at this stage of his career.
And if the rain stops, and everything's dry.. she would cry, just so I could drink tears from her eyes.

Sky Sports saying they're expected to approach Brighton for permission to speak to Potter today. Pochettino and Zidane also being mentioned.

On Potter, think it'd be risky for him. Actually think he'd be in with a strong shout of the City job in a year or two.

I don't think Bohley understands the concept of football. He probably thinks he is an owner of a NFL team with overtime and field goals etc.

My guess is that he wants somebody who is very positive but compliant...........you couldn't say Tuchel was either. I've worked with a few American bosses and they just don't get the European personalities at times. They do not like anything negative nor criticism of others except when it is "downwards" in the authority chain. Sometimes even the wording of a sentence riles them. For example I've had problems using the phrase "I'll do my best" which we use to mean "I'll do everything I can to make it happen"; they wanted me to say "it will happen". They like people who "accept responsibility" and who don't blame others.

Ok so this is all speculation and I have no idea why Tuchel was sacked........I don't believe that it was purely the results. I do think it was a clash of personalities.

Tuchel would be an awkward type to deal with and a bit spiky. I can't imagine him being uber positive. He would be a realist with a hint of negativity.

Who is ultra positive and would tell the owners what they want to hear? Only one man for the job.

Not unless it's Potter.

Potter actually has a chance to be a very good manager for years to come and clearly be a front runner for the England job at some point. I'd think very carefully about taking the Chelsea job if offered. Could put his reputation back 5 years when it ultimately goes wrong. Boehly already looking like a very loose cannon.
I think the same, can't stand him, but if you could have a £1million pound cheque or steve bruces head hollowed out and filled with pound coins which would you have?

I don't think they would give Potter the time/chance to be successful. They are used to hiring managers and getting instant success and when it wears off, the manager goes and the cycle goes on.

I can absolutely see why they would want Potter but he isn't an instant impact manager.

I think Potter is smarter than that - I don't think he'd go there. Unless he sees shortcomings with his team and doesn't believe they could sustain that early form and he wants to leave on a high. But I think he'd want to see this season through with them.

Wow. Two PL managers sacked before mid-September.  And these did it after a record breaking window. Wonder what the likes of Aubameyang thinks about joining them since Tuchel was likely part of the reason why. Although the funny thing with Tuchel was that he was hired in part to get the best out of Werner and Havertz; the former is back at Leipzig and he hasn't got any consistency out of the latter.

 Surely they're going after Pochettino.

Ha, called this a few days ago in the sack race thread but didn't think it would happen this quickly. No idea who would want that job, buti think whoever does get it isn't currently managing in the PL. Doubt that Poch would be in contention - I'm sure that Sean Dyce or the Owl would be a perfect fit.

Yeah that's the thing. He can wait for the 'right project', but where's that going to be? There'll be other top six vacancies before long - looking at you Spurs when Conte inevitably crashes and burns - but there's no guarantee that Potter will be first in line when that happens. I do think he'd be in with a shout of the City job when Guardiola leaves, but again they'll probably have the ability to go for Nagelsmann at that point (or whoever the hot managerial property is).

I know he has had a rough start this season but I was genuinely open mouthed at that news. Obviously trying to still act like the Madrid of London sacking managers who don't win a major trophy (or even if they do sometimes).

Can't see them doing anything else but hiring a proper established 'big gun'. Saying that though I'm still in shock at that decision so if they've lost it then a Lampard or similar would be very appreciated thanks.
