After dropping some absolute dollies, almost a stunner from Root (if he was standing a foot forward it'd have been out).  Billings also had taken a fantastic catch earlier, and it looked like he pulled out at the last second for that catch - he has shown how good he is behind the wicket well so far this match and the previous one where he was on the field for a day

A Blackburn couple will become the first husband and wife to take charge of an English professional fixture together this weekend.

Former Pakistan international Naeem Ashraf and his wife Jasmine Naeem will officiate the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy match between Lightning and Western Storm at Loughborough on Saturday.

The pair began umpiring when Ashraf, 49, retired from playing in 2010.

“We’ve done it together in leagues in Lancashire and Greater Manchester and nobody’s realised that we were married," said Jasmine .

"Now we’re honoured that we’re getting this opportunity on such a big stage.”

NZ at times had their foot on England’s throat, they just didn’t press down hard enough. England also got lucky that Jamison got injured during a test and couldn’t bat or bowl for more than half of it and then for some reason the Kiwis never picked Patel in a test where even Jack Leach took 10.

From 90/5, I would have been optimistic to score 200+. 400+ is a mammoth total on what seems to be a pace-friendly pitch.

Stokes and Broad will be rightly lambasted for that idiocy. The England batting is positive and aggressive. The England bowling just then was meek and defensive. If Broad had bowled with the cherry to 4 slips and a gulley and aimed at the '4th stump' England would have conceded 40 runs less than they did.

There was no need to bowl Leach on a hiding to nothing yesterday either. I like Leach, but it was crazy letting Pant just do what he does best for 10 overs.
