Not often you see a finger spinner opening the bowling on the third morning at headingley

Fessing up here... I really enjoy the "catastrophic gene" in-built in nearly all English representative sport. It's the comforting certainty that (Eoin Morgan's crew apart) disaster always lurks around the corner. But. I have really enjoyed this latest model test match mayhem ala Stokes 2022 version of Test match cricket. I almost hope they win again, as long as it's another pulling victory from the jaws of defeat. Extraordinary what a new voice in the dressing room can do. Southgate take note.

Ha ha, that's a great way of describing it.

I think it was the first time they were bowled for it?
Ah. Possibly. Thanks.
Incidentally. Is it theoretically for the first two batters to start at the crease for five days. Or is there a rule preventing it?

Overton gets Latham the first ball after Tea and then smashed Conway on the helmet first ball. Nasty short ball.

It seems to me that falling leaves are clogging up your pond filter again. It must be that time of year (summer). I reckon it needs another clean out.

Yeh, pity - I’ve really loved today’s play, and England’s fightback. I’m expecting Gerry to post sometime to suggest his view of Jack Leach’s capabilities has been modified😜

Going out to that filter during a test match over the years does seem to coincide with wickets falling, remarkable coincidence I think!

Safe hands Ben Foakes has caught...Covid.

He’s replaced by Billings for the rest of the game. Obviously in the rules now that you can make a Covid sub? Twice this series England have had to make a replacement, not sure it had ever happened before?

Talking of catching, is Joe Root England’s best bet as lone slipper?

Equivalent of a double hundred for a batsman. Personally, I'd rate a 10WM higher than a 200.

BTW, how many entries on the board does this mean for Leach? One for the 10WM, or one each for each 5WI and one for the 10WM?

On paper, with this target should win fairly easily.

I’m sure it’s Stokes, and he was the slip catcher to spinners in the past (I think) but he driest seem to want to field there now. Maybe as captain wants to be nearer the bowlers and/or more wary of his fragile fingers.

Fucking idiocy getting run out this early in an innings
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

It's the India test left over from last year. Still counts as that series despite both teams having new coaches and captains.

NZ seem to have decided they don't want their reviews
