They'll sign players eventually, they have to, the question is whether they'll have to settle on spending average amounts on average players, or whether they'll go big and spend huge sums on average players.

I didn’t know Cavani had left.

Who are their strikers/forwards if Ronaldo leaves? Greenwood is also not available.

Rashford, Martial, Elanga... and some other kids?

Greenwood is still listed on their squad roster, even though he’s been suspended.

#MUFC have been working on belief Cristiano Ronaldo will stay at club for 2022-23, hence leaving Liverpool to Darwin Nunez.

Erik ten Hag could get creative but a Ronaldo departure would put United very light at centre-forward. Targets in other positions being advanced currently.

Aw so kind of them to let us have Nunez.

Yeah, now that Cristiano is leaving. I suppose tomorrow Nunez will ask to leave our club.
Such a shame we didn't see him play for us but hopefully  we get what we paid for him.

Funny thing is Nunez told Uruguay TV's a few times that Utd wanted him and he had  few talks with them but always wanted Liverpool so once there was interest, it was done in his mind.

He'll stay in the end because the clubs he'd want to go to aren't going to pay him 500k a week at 37, not to mention with a transfer fee on top. Only United aren't that daft.

If someone is dicking us over like Frenkie de Jong, I am sure we would have moved on to the next target.

I could not understand Ten Hag’s obsession with him.

He didn't come up with this now. Obviously Ronaldo has tried to find another club for a while, but it seems no one is interested. I don't see any top clubs going for him, even at reduced wages. He's just not that good anymore. He brings attention, but also a ton of drama. Smaller clubs would be a huge step down.

Zlatan went back to Milan and reinforced his status as a club legend by taking on a more supportive role, but I can't see Ronaldo doing that.

Wouldn't surprise me at all if he ends up sulking at United.

I don't know much about Ten Haag or De Jong, and they might both be brilliant at Utd (if the latter joins) but it always rings a few alarm bells when a manager can't seem to look beyond players he has used before.

Exactly, seems like he only wants players from his safe circle. I wouldn't be surprised if he actually used De Beek+Jong for his midfield pair.

Noticed that too. Van Der Beek, Anthony, Timber, Martinez and De Jong. It’s basically telling his employer that half the players from his previous team that played outside Big5 European league are better than United’s. I have never seen these players much but I think ETH overplayed his hand a little bit.

That’s also why I respected Klopp for never needing to raid Dortmund when he joined us.

The Portugal player believes he has “three or four years” left at the highest level of the game and would like to spend them at a club where he is capable of adding to his team and individual achievements. The state of disrepair at a United that placed faith in, then dismissed, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick last season is such that Ronaldo no longer views his future to be at Old Trafford.
According to close friends, Ronaldo’s affection and respect for United’s support remains as strong as ever.

Haha. The only thing Ronaldo has EVER had any affection for his himself, the cringy narcissistic prick.  He’s not even happy when the team wins if he doesn’t score  :lmao

Not surprised that Ten Hag trust his own network over United's scouting. Many managers would do the same. Klopp has brought in quite a few Bundesliga players, just like Benitez bought a lot from Spain.
Problem is, Ten Hag comes from a shit league, so he doesn't have much to work with.

Getting rid of Ronaldo will be a great news for TenHaag.

This is actually bad news as it will improve them.

At the same time, it will seriously cripple their commercial machine. They don't function under the same rules of engagement as we do. De Jong rejecting them and Ronaldo asking to leave is a disaster for their model ...

Realistically they are in a total rebuild and should be happy to be rid of Ronaldo. The fact that they are advising everyone they aren’t happy to do so just shows, again for the millionth time, what a joke of a club they have become.

The Nunez stuff for an LFC fan is just icing on the cake. If you would have told me 10 years ago this same situation I would have died with shock, now I’m it’s laughter. Holy mother of god this is amazing.

What they mean by that is "if we weren't stuck with Ronaldo for the CF position we'd have offered Nunez anything up to 6 million quid a week to sign for us over Liverpool because we're United and we can do what we what and sign who we want".

“Leaving Liverpool to Nunez”

Like you had a fucking say in the matter. Darwin Nunez chose Liverpool because we are miles ahead of Man Utd. Laurie Whitwell needs to quit stealing a living, pull his head out of the Glazers arse and up his journalistic game.

Man Utd are utterly screwed, and that fraud Ten Hag will bomb, mark my words.

There's no chance PSG go in for him with the forward options they already have and, apparently, an intention to move away from signing (has been) Galacticos.

There's not a serious CL contender that would want him due to the baggage he brings, nevermind the wages and signing fees.  I'm not all that convinced any CL team would want him and then there's the question of him wanting to sign for a club that just makes up the numbers in the CL every season (Portuguese league, for example).  Maybe he'd take that though as simply a chance to score a few more CL goals.

Realistically he's at that stage where he should be going to an emerging league as the trophy signing.  It would be very funny though if he ends up stuck at Man U and Man U stuck with him.

Napoli seems to be a rumour.
If true, that's got to be one of those classic Italian loan moves where the owning club ends up coughing up nearly all the money for the player to play elsewhere!

So basically if he renogiates his current contract and takes a pay cut he can stay?

If the alternative is playing for United, he'll likely end up paying Barca to stay.
