To be fair the guy does have a point from a logic point of view. United have first hand experience how handing out big wages can destroy a club. It is the very cause of the mess they are currently in because they can’t get rid of all those failed players they signed on ridiculous contracts.

Us on the other hand, we are giving a deserved contract to one of the world’s best players, not the like of Rashford, J Linz, Harry Maguire, Juan Mata, Phil Jones etc etc etc (the list is pretty long obviously).

Salah has proved his worth over 5 seasons. They gave the same salary to Sancho before he’d even trained with them.

Getting rid of Ronaldo will be a great news for TenHaag.

This is actually bad news as it will improve them.

Definitely.

He was always going to leave because they aren’t in the CL. There’s no way Ronaldo plays in the Europa league

Whilst I agree as a team they may, they are seriously lacking goal scorers, and the one thing he did for them at least last season was stick the ball in the back of the net 24 times.

If he does go it's another position they need to spend big on and they won't be getting a fee for him.

They conceded 57 goals in the league compared with 29 the season before. They also scored 16 fewer goals.

He scored quite a few goals, but would they have conceded so many if they didn’t have him jogging about and goal hanging against teams who utilised all 11 players?

View from Manchester United is that Cristiano Ronaldo is not for sale and remains under contract with them for another year @TheAthleticUK #MUFC

Really is peak current United to be handed this life raft and say 'No, actually this water is fine, I think I'll float here for a while yet'.

Lose-lose situation whether Ronaldo stays are leave.

Stay and he would continue to poison their dressing room by picking fights with his team mates. Leaving and United lose their only goal scorer and commercial asset.

Couldn’t happen to a nicer club.

Ultimately where is he going to go? He's burnt his bridges at Juve, Madrid won't want him back and Mbappe is staying at PSG.

He probably wishes he went to City last year but short of taking a pay cut I can't see him leaving this summer.

After we won the title I started joking with friends of mine who support United that they could have a longer gap than us when it comes to winning the league. I don't think its that unlikely anymore, 10 years out from Fergie and they're a total mess. If they manage to get themselves together somewhat (which will take at least a few seasons) they'll have to compete with at a minimum, us, Chelsea and the two state owned clubs in the league. I'm sure they will get a great team together eventually but they'll find themselves in the same situation we are in (arguably worse with Newcastle entering the picture), having to be near perfect to win despite having an amazing team and the best manager in the world no team has a god given right to win the league again despite being very successful historically.
they'll go longer than Spurs, doubt many of us on here will ever see another Utd title in our lifetimes
However if something serious happens to them I will eat my own cock.

They'll sign players eventually, they have to, the question is whether they'll have to settle on spending average amounts on average players, or whether they'll go big and spend huge sums on average players.

I didn’t know Cavani had left.

Who are their strikers/forwards if Ronaldo leaves? Greenwood is also not available.

Rashford, Martial, Elanga... and some other kids?

Greenwood is still listed on their squad roster, even though he’s been suspended.
