Just watched the highlights... incredibly encouraging to see how sharp he is.
Now there is a slight note of caution because he might be closer to 100% as he's effectively had months of pre season compared to other players on the pitch but he really looked like the same player
The big scary elephant in the room is how he holds up over time
This was always a two step thing... first step can he get back to being the same player, second step can his body hold up to playing top level football consistently which we'll only know by him doing it!
Fingers crossed because he's the best attacking midfielder in the squad at his best and makes a difference to us
I’m interested in how his knee holds up under pre season training.
Often they swell and get painful after use. When he was getting back to fitness he and Klopp were both keen to say that there was no reaction from the knee.
Now, to a layman like me this is a great sign and I wonder if this is still the case? I’ve seen players who’ve had acl repairs hold ice packs to they’re knees after playing.
Would be interested to know if this is the case here too.
Obviously this is all my uneducated drivel and Welshred would be able to give an informed view
