Such a shame the way this has all panned out. I remember watching him in a live Leipzig pre-season training session after we'd signed him & that weird 'no you can't have him for another year' transfer.

He hasn't quite been the player we thought we were getting from those highlight reels with Leipzig. We've had glimpses of him breaking forward and scoring goals, but it seemed to me, by the time he got here the fire had not exactly gone out but was no longer the raging inferno it was at Leipzig.

Be lucky to get £20m with his contract nearly up.

fuck all this, I cant believe Naby himself is making these noises, he wouldn't leave the team or Klopp hanging with 10 minutes left in the window.
This doesn't sound right to me...
Unless there's an agreement to let him go because we can replace him pretty bloody quickly...Hes won a lot with us and was always a team player. Never heard him complain before.

It’s coming from Sky Germany. Same people who got wind of Mane first and they share the same agency

Maybe Keita's agents are copying Henderson and his agents public negotiation tactics from last August

Can say the same about Ian Doyle with half the garbage he writes as well.

Not sure why this would be surprising, he wants a new deal and to stay at LFC and if a little public pressure helps with that then so be it. Considering what we just went through with Mo you'd think some people around here would be used to this but I guess not.

Not the player we thought we were signing to be honest, if he goes he goes. I thought a cross between Ray Houghton, Jari Litmanen and Harry Kewel rolled into one😊

Maybe it’s best to watch a player first before deciding what fomer players they compare with.

I mean, Jari Litmanen and Harry Kewell?  ;D

he probably was in terms of how he played/plays, surely despite the frustarations, we’ve seen that in him.  But in terms of durability and ability to play through niggles and to get and stay fit after numerous injuries - no, he wasn’t.

By "club" I'm assuming you mean Klopp and Edwards.  Do you have some sort of insight into what they thought they were getting when we signed Keita?  Because, if not, then it's still what YOU were expecting.

There is no measurements to be made if a player isn’t fit, it’s plain to see if he went it wouldn’t be to much of a loss besides financial. In my opinion😳

Would not lose much sleep if he was sold is how I’d sum up his time with Liverpool.

If he goes and we have someone lined up before the window closes, I could live with that.

My best guess is Bosman next summer, but we will see.

If he does stay then hopefully he can stay fit and show us his best, as there's definitely an opportunity for him to stake a claim and be a main man in the midfield.

It's a shame but I think the succession of injuries has effected him both physically and mentally and he is now nowhere near the midfield tiger we saw at Leipzig.
It's sad to see a player lose faith in his own body, especially one so talented.

WHat I don't understand is why you're saying this now, on the back of a season where he was more available than before (even despite AFCON). Same applies for Matip.

Given both their issues with availability the season before, you'd have said they were no loss (besides financial), and yet both played pretty big roles in the country's closest run at a quadruple in history. Have to look beyond 'did they have a lot of injuries' and consider their ability and contributions and whether their fitness can be better managed (as we appeared to manage last season)

Worth noting Keita was played in 23 PL games last season. Hendo had a season with 17 appearances, followed by 24 and then 27 - one of them being a sub for 1 minute (Hendo started a larger proportion obviously, but you're talking about being fit). Players get injured, yet can still return and be regularly available to contribute at a good level.

I was waiting for this stats thing and thank you, I know Naby had some big input in games and in the overall season. I’m not comparing him to Henderson, I could in this chat in appearances and influence if you like?
My opinion not the clubs is that we signed a world class prospect and it didn’t work out, I just think losing him now wouldn’t be to much of a loss if he wants to go.

More that he couldn't get on off the bench against Palace during a midfield crisis with Ox, Jones and Thiago all injured and Hendo not fit to start. Hendo comes on off the bench, Carvalho comes on off the bench and 36 year old Milner starts. 2 days later and it's briefed that he won't be signing a contract and he's not happy.

He’ll likely want more than what he’s currently on looking for what, 4, 5 year deal? Can’t imagine he’d take pay cut and we’d be nuts to give him one. Sell him if there are any buyers or let him leave for free otherwise we’ll be stuck with him for the foreseeable future while being on some hefty wages.
The biggest problem anywhere in the world is that people's perceptions of reality are filtered through the screening mesh of what they want, and do not want, to be true.

You must have absolutely despised Oxlade Chamberlain for getting a new contract while extra inconsistent during his recovery from the horrific ligament injuries, the piss-taker

Ox is a different case. He was a key player before his knee injury - helped us get to a Champions League final and started many games in our 19-game winning streak in 19/20.

Little chance of Naby Keita leaving Liverpool in this window.
Club held face-to-face talks with the midfielder's agent earlier this month, and relationship is good. Plan is still for an extension to be agreed.
