Yep. Terrific 30 mins from Naby. Sad when you think what could have been…

Need to be playing Fabinho, Keita and Thiago together as often as possible. It was our best midfield last season.

Has to start. Gotta wring whatever minutes you can out of him. Every other pass he plays gets someone in behind or galloping into space.

Two games in a row we gained some control once he came on. Could have had a couple of assists too on another day.

I guess we're easing him back in, hopefully he will be up to starting soon.

I'd have started him tonight in place of Chamberlain, you'd imagine that would be the case against Brentford

Hopefully fit enough to start against Brentford.

Why start him in the front three when the midfield three has been horrible?

He didn’t transform our midfield, but look good and at the very least competent. Should be starting ahead of Elliott.

Yep ride Naby hard as long as we have him and just hope he doesn't break down, gave us some presence in midfield after coming on.

I would've started him in the midfield 3, more than likely with Elliott or Carvalho further forward but I suspect that Klopp thought that would have been too many changes with Fab being out

Agreed, two games in a row where teams have been stopped playing through a porous midfield. Has to start ahead of Harvey now.

I think he's a great player and I so want him to succeed, but he spent the first half of his time on the pitch wandering cluelessly.

I'll put it this way - I was very enthusiastic when Keita first joined, given Gerrard's shirt and all, but with time I find myself on the proverbial fence... And I can't get off from there. Just when I lean toward expecting him to realize his potential here, boom, another injury. Just when I think he's done with us, boom, another stable performance when is most needed. And I rock back and forth for years...

We need a midfielder, that much is obvious. We need solidity in midfield, which we lost from prior seasons. We need a ball winner, we need legs, we need a creator, etc., we need to improve so many aspects of our current midfield, which is beyond recognition. We also know that we are after Bellingham (whether we can pull that off is another issue). Given his price, we are limited in the choice of which midfielders we can bring in in January, and maybe the next year in addition to Bellingham. I'm thinking that perhaps one of our current players out of Milner, Ox and Keita, hell, even Jones, must be retained for an extra year, and my choice would be Keita. His availability has been a major issue, but he's been more available than Curtis... I thought that Curtis will take over that role in the team, but I have no clue what's going on with him, and I think the situation is forcing the Club's hand a bit to keep Keita. Or bring in another midfielder if we had the funds.

@farawayred: trouble is, why would he agree to a 1-2 year contract with us when there will surely be a load of clubs in the top leagues willing to punt on 3-4 years for a Bosman? We'd have to offer at least 3 years, which hamstrings us again (pardon the pun) if he spends most of next season on the sidelines. We shouldn't be afraid to move on - the great football dynasties weren't afraid to let go of key players, let alone those who never quite lived up to their potential.

Fair enough. It all depends on what funds we have, I reckon. Buying someone is not always the best decision, considering the fee plus salary, and the time one needs to adapt to how we play. I’m jus saying that Keita is not a dead rubber yet. I would t know what’s best, I’m still on that fence.

It is incredibly quiet around his contract situation, even links to him speaking to other clubs which I think he can do from today?

Anyway, hope he starts vs Brentford.

Definitely this.

A great player on his day, but those days are few and far between due to injuries and form.

We've been in limbo now for 2-3 years with our midfield due to Keita and Ox's availability and consistency, and we cannot prolong it further by offering contract extensions - especially when we have an ageing Hendo, Thiago and Fabinho, then a big gap to the youngsters.

Keita, Ox and Milner have all been good servants to the club in their own ways, even if it's only really Milner who has really delivered consistently. I'll wish them all well in the summer, but the time is now to revitalise our midfield - starting this month.
I've got OCD, but I prefer to call it CDO so it's in alphabetical order.

A fit Naby is a great asset. If he remains fit and plays well I would be happy to keep such a talented player. Obviously if he breaks down again after all the time and care he's had to get fit then yes time to move on, but he is such a good player I would want the guy to play for us not against us.

He started both domestic cup finals last season.
Personally wished he started the CL final

I thought he was fit and available the last 4 months last season and played well.
The only game I recall he had a stinker was the Madrid QF away leg in 2021.
