Here they come...

He's off form, no need to go all in on the poor fucker.

It’s not going to get better though, the opposition are targeting his side every game, all game. I feel for him

Those saying he's not at fault for the first 😁

He's literally the only person in the stadium who doesn't see that pass coming.

Thought Virgil played him on for the first one?  Second was just awful defending, terrible decision making.

This. He wouldn’t do that for the 2nd otherwise. It’s all the media scrutiny unfortunately. He’ll learn from this but he’s costing us a lot right now

Yeah it's the medias fault he's constantly asleep and letting players in behind him,

Jurgen might have to bring him off for his own good, the injury might be a good excuse to rest him.

You can see some logic for the second goal as he went to support Henderson but that just illustrates his lack of defensive thought as he left the middle totally empty while Hendeson was showing the player down the line. Trent's arrival just fucked that up.

If we put no pressure on the ball he either tracks multiple runners at once (impossible) or just gets fucked over continuously by our permanently shit RCM choices.

Doesn't explain what he was doing on their second.  He made the decision for the forward and managed to take himself and Henderson out of the game in one run.

A fullback is screwed at that point. His CB is too deep, his CM isn’t goal side of their 10. He’s in a world of trouble. Could he have done better? Maybe but the issues weren’t his.

If we’re coaching him to defend like this… My god. I think it’s more likely to be the fact that he doesn’t have defensive instincts. He doesn’t see it the way he should because at the stage of his career where you learn all your fundamentals he was not playing as a RB. It’s that simple. He is what he always has been, just now the rest of our defence and midfield aren’t good too so it’s making it stand out more.

He gambled which was a poor choice tbf. But he’s never been a great defender, and this year we’re choosing to expose him constantly.

The problem is the same for both goals. Trent isn't looking around and has no idea where their key attacking player is. No awareness whatsoever.

Any defensively sound player in that 2nd goal situation stays with their runner I cannot believe how he’s decided to go towards the ball. That is proof he doesn’t have it in him.

Mind boggling defending.

We weren't that good that our defenders didn't have to defend!  He's off form, people are getting too sucked in by the media and especially Sky Sports with this 'Trent is shit at defending' bollocks.

For the first goal he has three runners plus the passer to focus on. What is he meant to do?

This is getting ridiculous. Hendo was never going to catch Martinelli, he couldn't pass or shoot because of Trent the only option he had is to stop and turn but Hendo for some reason kept going. Once Hendo saw Trent move to block Martinelli he should have made a run to the center or anticipated Martinelli would turn back.

I mean he’s gonna get the headlines but fuck me the rest of that defence has been absolutely appalling today, Joel had a Lovren Vs Spurs game
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

Let's not let any of that get in the way of being a prick to one of our own.
