It's been known for some time that Orca's are some of the most intelligent of the whale/dolphin genre.

Has anyone else been following, or come across( through the press) the pod of Orca's that seem to be threatening and attacking a succession of different boats, in the Atlantic, off Spain and Portugal.

Whether it truly is aggressive behaviour, or just hijinks remains  to be seen, but they seem to be targeting the hull, and especially the rudder.

^ great article. Smart creatures. It really makes you think. Did you see that Netflix show about the Octopus in the ocean off South Africa?
I haven’t eaten octopus since. Makes you think about eating any animal.

That was unbelievable. He literally documented on camera a level of intelligence and interactions in that creature that no known journal or study had ever captured.

Quite an emotional documentary that, well worth a watch.

What a trip: research suggests mushrooms talk to each other with a vocabulary of 50 words

"Hey lads, there's a group of scallies heading our way. They're bent almost double staring at the ground and are carrying paper bags. What do we do?"

A Tory, a worker and an immigrant are sat round a table. There's a plate of 10 biscuits in the middle. The Tory takes 9 then turns to the worker and says "that immigrant is trying to steal your biscuit"

Thanks, I am obviously a latecomer to this thread (although I bought the book not long after that)

If bumblebees can play, does it mean they have feelings? This study suggests yes

seems like curiosity/inquisitive behaviour to me - a preferred exploration which leads to familiarity rather than play

but fascinating creatures all the same
