He’s good enough to be in the u19 CL squad, so it’s either injuries or politics.

He's barely played for us at any level since October last year. It doesn't appear to be some crazy decision, he just doesn't seem to have kicked on at all.
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

As far as I'm aware there can only be 5 2003 born player in the youth squad side so some were going to miss out. Davies, Quansah, Woltman, Corness and Blair seem to be the ones picked. Going from being with the first team for a period in the summer to not in this is a bit odd, but with Woltman going he may get added in anyway.

I think he had injury issues which is why he missed a bit of last season as well

In your opinion. Perhaps he isn't in the eyes of the coaches and the academy director though.

It was stated on the previous page that this list is effectively a list for this tie only.  So there is a risk of getting carried away….

Nice little compilation on Harvey Blair here.

Looks like the kind of player we could promote from the youth team, he's quick, direct and can finish.  Good size too, got what's needed for a Klopp team.

Which would be strange has he’s had better performances than most attackers in our youth team in the last two years.

He's flattered to deceive though.  I really wanted him to be amazing because he's genuinely two-footed and an excellent dribbler.  But his performances have tailed off somewhat, and if you watch him in youth games, there's a real lack of intensity to his game.

He has tailed off but him and Gordon were already the better forwards in the u18s, the likes of Blair and Frauendorf haven’t been much better and Musialowski has shown a higher ceiling potentially....

I think it’s injuries or politics in play like I said, he may not be good enough for our first team but he is certainly good enough to play with his peers and sort of stand out.

I dunno, I'm not convinced, and like I said, I really wanted him to succeed because he looked potentially excellent.  But if the desire and determination isn't there, then you won't get a player out of someone.  His lack of speed and strength doesn't help either.

He played less than half of our games, scored four goals, was out of contention for pretty much the whole second half of the season. Hopefully its just a normal drop-off for a young player and he comes storming back this season, but it really isn't some crazy decision for him to be left out not even considering the over-age thing.

Wonder if he'll have any involvement in some cup ties this season if we're playing weaker opposition. Was surprised he made his debut at Preston last year despite not having played for the u23s at that stage. Struggled to get into that game but it was a pretty poor game of football.

We need a youth striker knocking on the door for first team . Is Doak the prospect?
He'll win the league in the next 3 years. Quote me on that.

Napoli equalised through a pen but Doak just skinned a defender again to set up Cannonier to put us 2-1 up.

Gordon is a wide forward not a striker and it did look ike he could make it. However a very serious groin injury keeping him out since February is more than worrying.

Didn't know how comfortable Doak is on both feet, he didn't favour either at all and that's a really promising sign.  Think he plays a little too much like a traditional winger right now and would benefit from playing inside and making runs behind the defence, but he had his fullback on toast pretty much every time he squared him up.

Kone-Doherty I'm not as convinced by, but it's early days.
