Elliott was excellent. The goal was outstanding and Diaz improved massively after it so hopefully he'll kick on from that.

As for Nunez. You can start the idiot bits of Suarez when you’ve got the good bits of Suarez, and you haven’t. Appalling, stupid way to introduce yourself at Anfield. Likely cost us two points.

We made a decent effort with ten men, and we finished fairly strongly. We're really struggling with getting shots on target however, and there are still lots of silly lapses in concentration like Salah getting caught offside when Palace pushed out, and Tsimikas' crossing doing completely haywire.

I was disappointed in our response to going a goal down, we lost our way and let Palace gain confidence, we don't seem to have any gears to go through at the moment we just seem flat until the end of games.

The wonderful effort from Diaz was our only properly shot effort on target in the game I think. Lots of scuffed efforts or off target.

Thank you Patrick for completely forgetting we were a man down after Nunez's red. Probably one of the most bizarre lack of formation changes to make the numerical advantage count I've ever seen in my life. Their negativity did half the work for us this game.

Some of the positives were, when 11 v 11, how well we timed runs to break their offside trap, the tactical adaptation to bypass their back 5 wide and penetrate better after going down to 10. Also decent info on the not so great aspects, but can afford to give it a bit more time for a clearer picture on those.

Gomez did very extremely well when he came on given the circumstances and the lads put so much effort into that second half. Deserved more against a team who decided to time waste against 10 men. Don't think I've ever seen that before to be honest

We've probably won games playing worse than that (not that we were amazing or anything) but just couldn't get the goals we needed. Poor start to the season puts us on the backfoot straight away.

Credit to Elliot, he was good. Great goal from Diaz but after that we just couldn't build up a head of steam after getting that boost.

All backs against the wall second half. Nunez will learn from that, while I can't excuse his action I can understand the frustration considering what defenders get away with now. Watching Anderson with his hands on Salah basically holding onto him as he moves around the Palace area, just typifies what football has become now. It's totally stupid and the lack of consistency from the officials isn't funny anymore. As for the team, we need to get some players back, until then we are going to have to roll our sleeves up and put the effort in.

He was shocking. No semblance of reffing anything in the box as a foul. Diaz & Salah both wrestled to the ground, 2 handballs and not even a VAR check.

Has the feel already like a couple years ago:  every match a grind it out, grueling experience and never really feeling completely confident of any three points no matter who the opponent or where the venue.
