We should have had a centre back signed before the fireworks stopped.

To be still without one on January 29th is beyond negligent.

But he wants it to be the right player, not just any player and that's official quotes from him.

We can’t wait now Jill.

Even if it’s a loan that is short term.

Hopefully it’s just Kloppo exaggerating an injury to get a player in.

I’ve plenty links to the clubs playing and backroom staff as many on here know thank you very much. Fair enough, I admire your optimism. But you’re absolute ostriches if you think this squad, even with 2 or 3 new, “cut price” players with potential get us anywhere close

Right now the only fit 3 CB options are Williams, Philips and Henderson. One was on loan at Kidderminster, one was practically out the door over the summer and one is a midfielder doing his manager and club a massive favour

Even if it’s a loan that is short term.

If we let the transfer window slam shut without bringing even a loan it would be complete incompetence and negligence.

I really hope something is happening behind the scenes. Because the alternative is unthinkable.

Yes if we can't get our top choice in, then it's far better to have no CB's for the second half of the season

Can we get a loan? I mean we've only had all month and all of Nov/Dec to think about it.

We cannot continue in the season without getting someone in, even if it's a loan. Not doing that will seriously jeopardize our season. We can't keep playing midfielders as CBs. It's not sustainable.

I don't disagree, but it seems entirely certain to me that whoever we sign will be injured within half an hour of going on the pitch.

We have to sign someone even if its a short term for an experienced center back. Kinda like how Milan signed Kjaer initially on loan.
We really don't want to go into latter stages of CL with one injury away from fielding Williams/Phillips against Mpappe, Neymar, Lewandowski etc.

Such a shame because when he's fit he's a world class CB.

Can understand that stance if it’s a longer term investment.  Even a short term loan deal would help out for this season.

Ankle ligament's is at least 8 weeks or so.

Depends what grade, I've done it several times and it's weeks if grade 1-2 and months of 2-3.
Either way, he's not going to be playing any time soon. Feel so sorry for the fella.

Indeed, but hes always been in and out whilst at Liverpool. Amazing player when he is fit. Obvious emphasis on the when

Surprised he was given an extended contract given his injury record

Good luck Matip

I think it’ll be Fabinho - Henderson at CB until the end of the season with Phillips playing the odd game at home against lower league opposition such as Brighton next week. Absolute dire straights.

He's hardly going to come out and say he'll take anyone. He's not foolish and will know so much is riding on is getting someone in before the window closes.

Phillips will shrug his shoulders and smash through the back of Antonio at every opportunity. No problem.

Can understand that stance if it’s a longer term investment.  Even a short term loan deal would help out for this season.

It's still not as simple as people are making out. They will have to be able to play in a team which plays in a high line, which not all CB's can do. If someone's available I'm all in favour of a loan move at least, but they have to be able to play in our style.
