Really liked that he was mature enough not to attempt something stupid in an effort to impress. Certainly didn’t look out of place.

Interesting that Klopp brought him on to play centrally instead of swapping him with AOC.  Everything I've seen of Jones screams central midfielder, and that was a really assured debut.  Albeit against a team that had given up by that point.

Good and comfortable debut that could have even crowned with a goal. Oozes confidence too, can't expect that much at his age.

Love the way this lad got minutes today. Meanwhile Foden at Man City continues to cool his heels on the bench week after week after week after.....

Good to see him play as an 8 today rather than on the wing. Suspect Jurgen wanted to see how he'd handle the defensive rotations/positioning, and whether he could be used in the upcoming fixtures. I think he was great today, showed real promise.

Kept my eye on him constantly after he came on. His off ball game is excellent. Great maturity, knows when to burst forward and when to fill in for his fullback, looked like he’s played in this system all his life and he can definitely contribute within the next couple of years.

Obviously his touch and close control is excellent, decision making great, can beat a man and shoot well. Really excited for him

Can't wait to see him get more comfortable/confident in senior football. Has been the most fun academy player to watch since Ibe.

At U23 level presumably. Trent was fast tracked to the seniors pretty early wasn’t he?

Trent was phenomenal at youth level. Dominating games from right back pretty much as soon as he got there and looked like he could play anywhere and stand out. But Ibe picking up the ball just about anywhwere on the pitch and trying to beat everyone was way more fun to watch even if he wasn't as good. Jones is like a mix of the 2, really fun to watch and a clear standout.

Made up he got his chance today think he’s really looked a good prospect this season. More to come from him. Can’t believe he’s only 18. Think he’s most likely out of any of the youngsters to make it and I definitely wouldn’t have thought that before this season.

He looks completely natural playing the 8. He's got the makings of the new breed of 8's who are essentially no.10s from 10 years ago but with the engine to let them get up and down all game. He looks very comfortable on the ball and has enough size about him to hold his own physically in the middle. He looked like he belonged at this level physically and technically.
Quote from: Dion Fanning

The chants for Kenny Dalglish that were heard again on Wednesday do not necessarily mean that the fans see him as the saviour. This is not Newcastle, longing for the return of Kevin Keegan. Simply, Dalglish represents everything Hodgson is not and, in fairness, everything Hodgson could or would not hope to be.

Movement without the ball is so purposeful. always a reason for every move he makes, head constantly swiveling to read the game while so doing.

His athleticism and technique are indeed impressive; I think it's his positioning that sets him apart...

Jones looked the part didn't he?
Just on the bolded bit, I was quite surprised to find out that Foden played more minutes last season than any other teenager at a top-half side. Might be best to enjoy our youngster without comparing him to other club's players.

Seems like a natural Lallana replacement/successor with his ability on the ball, and potentially more athletic once he fills out.

looks so smooth on the ball and his little feints to create space for himself would do good in the hustle of the epl.

Just short of a dream debut. Wished he smashed the ball to the top corner from Shaq's cross. Looks like he was rather unprepared and shocked when the cross reached him and kind of panicked.

Best thing you can say is that he fitted in and didn't look remotely out of place. Seemed calm and assured on the ball, very forward thinking.
Look forward to seeing more of him.

What a talent, he looks like a proper modern centre mid, cut from the same cloth as Jack Grealish, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita. Players like these, that can break the lines through the middle with close control and a natural ability to take out a couple of opposition midfielders with a dribble from deep are at a premium, it's fantastic that we may very soon have 3 of these players competing for a place in our midfield.

Think Jurgen is on the verge of surprising a lot of pundits with players like this.  We've been carefully bringing our young players along, and we're starting to integrate them into the side now.  It wont be perfect at this stage but we definitely have a couple of extra cards to play, squad wise, where I think a few people might think we could be stretched over December.

Watford maybe?

I'd certainly be up for that. He's come off the bench and looked good, so give him a start against a weak team and see what he can do, whether he's ready to contribute more.

Anyone knows if Curtis will go with the squad for the Club World Cup or stay behind and play in the Villa game?

I'm not convinced playing in the Villa game will do much for him because it's obvious we may struggle with an U23 side or do you think the Villa game could be good for his development?  shrug.

Jones was named in the Club WC squad last week by Jurgen.

If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.
