Realistically, he has probably earned enough in his career that any paycut to whatever he'll earn next season isn't important. But changing clubs means uprooting his family (he's got kids in school, I think?), and he likely can't be sure to even play much at another club, unless it's a big step down in quality. Even if he only plays now and then, he can still win everything with us.

Depends what the media reports mean by a "vast cut in wages"?  If he is on say £120,000 a week then goings down to £100k a week, is still a great wage and IMO not that much of  a drop!  But I am glad he has wanted to stay even though opposite fans may take the p**ss. I think Milner's experience for some of the younger players and experience when things get a bit tough will be invaluable. A great squad player IMO

dunno about that.  rumours are the new contract states that club has to keep him in Ribena for the next 10 years.
I heard that part of the reduced terms is that the club will no longer buy him Ribena, but rather own-brand blackcurrrent squash from the Asda instead

I expect Millie will be the captain, in the 6 role, for all FA and League Cup games next season. (Harvey on one side, Jones on the other)

I'm very happy he's staying. He's a year younger than Ronaldo who most United fans still see as their great saviour even though he'll be 38 in Ferbruary. Unlike Ronaldo though there won't be any great weight of expectation on Millie's shoulders. He'll come on when needed & do a professional job.

And he knows he can increase his trophy tally this time next year.

It's part of the whole Boring James Milner thing that the player has brought into, for a laugh. The club joined in by naming a door after him at the new training centre. Not a stadium or a stand or an end or a gate or a throughway or a statue. A dull, unspectacular, plain door.

I believe Liverpool wanted name something after him in the new training facilities, asked Milner who sarcastically said a door, so they did that.

Surely something more like:

At the training ground, he's got a door, door, door
With a Ribena yell, he cries door, door door (Yow!)
At the training ground, Millie's...  door, door, door
Hear that Ribena yell, door, door door
Door. Door. Door

My oldest son gave me The Anfield Songbook for Father's Day yesterday. There's songs for Cheyrou, Ngog, two for Diouf, Solanke, Meijer, Barmby, Clough, Aquillani, Pascoe, Josemi, Balotelli, Marsh, Clyne, Kyriagos, Kabak, Carroll and Camara.
Nothing for Milner. It needs to be addressed.

Dressing room culture can destroy a team. You only have to look at that team in the mid 90s. Wonderful talent, great style, and led astray by piss head culture in the dressing room. Ged brought in Gary Mac to set a professional standard, he wasn’t a great player or the most talented, but he was totally professional in his outlook. Milner fulfils a footballing role but his off pitch influence is far more important to the club. Think about young lads like Carvalho and Nunez coming into that dressing room. Milner is the grandad never mind the daddy. When players like Virgil and Hendo look to him as the fittest bloke in the team, you know why he is there. He is the Sgt Major of the team.

A remarkable player and a pivotal member of the squad, despite his increasingly sporadic game time. Hope he goes on to get a a coaching role at the club when he decides to hang up his playing boots.

Think Ramsay might struggle to take Milner spot away from him as back-up RB for a bit

Milner has looked very sharp in pre-season and the community shield, offered quite a bit on the attacking front too

Crazy that he is 37 in January

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I feel like this is the first time both Milner and Salah have been on the pitch for a very long time when we've been awarded a penalty. I've been wondering for a while who our first choice taker actually is, and I guess that's now been answered.

Unbelievable how well he’s looked after himself.
