Seems our erstwhile ex thinks LFC are currently 'mentally weak.'

With others calling for a defensive coach, who better to inspire confidence in both those areas as an assistant?

He has no track record let alone experience. Not the place or time for him to get a start on his coaching career.

I reckon Big Red could do a job, he's got as much experience of coaching the best out of players as Carra..AND..he has a great redness about him.

Unlikely. He seems far too comfortable in his Sky role, plus he needs to get his coaching badges.

He could potentially be a good addition though. As a player, he knew how to construct a defence in-game with his organisation skills. He also has experience in being coached by Houllier and Benitez who were both specialised in teaching defence. Both possessed a different blueprint to Rodgers, but it should still be possible to implement some of their basic methods into our structure.

I don't think we'll drastically change with him coming in, but there should be a slight improvement. Bould has made a small difference to Arsenal. Remember reading an interview, in where Mertesecker spoke of how Bould helped both him and Koscielny with his defensive drills. Carra should be capable of having the same impact. Small but at least some kind of improvement.

I can't see it though. Rodgers has shown in a recent interview, he is resistant to bringing anyone in.

He probably thinks of himself as a number one now and rightly so. He wouldn't even consider taking the step down even if was out of a job.

You would think some would appreciate him a bit more, with the crap we have seen at centre back recently.

No, Carra doesn't deserve a coaching role a LFC after the way he undermined Rafa. Besides, I'm confident brendan will sort the defense out sooner rather than later

Carra isn't the solution. I share his views that we're weak and lack leadership, but many have said the on here. It's easy to find faults. Not so easy to correct them.

Positioning, tackling, blocking and awareness would be a treat though.
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

Much better to tip tap around the back four looking extremely uncomfortable while doing so, before Mignolet concedes possession with a chip out of play on the wing.

At least he'd actually challenge Rodgers and look to get us organised.

He's never coached before though. I'd have Clarke, Thompson or Sammy Lee back before Carragher. All proven good quality coaches.

We've got enough inexperienced coaches and staff. We don't need more.

No offense to Sami, but I very much doubt if he will a number one there for long, things are not going well.

Yeah that's pretty much right, he'd need to earn his stripes before taking a first team coaching job here at Liverpool, what we actually need to be doing throughout the club is improving our experience level's and quality from the coaching staff through to the first team, we are a young unit, and as talented as lots of those individuals may be or turn out to become, experience is an especially significant tool when having to overcome obstacles, to have been in a position where a situation presents itself as a challenge, and to have the answers to hand is a vital in retaining your own confidence and those you are working with.

On ffs don't get into this again. If you support Liverpool you'd know what went on. If you don't, do your research and you'll understand but this thread is not for it.

Back on topic, its a stupid idea and will never happen. Neither will the clamour for Steve bloody Clarke.
We’ll still finish in top four - and they won’t. You can quote me on this in May.

Fed the media information, talkshite, in paticular and refused to play RB when told by his manager. Carra's efforts to get rid of the best manager we've had in a generation reflects his prehistoric and archaic view of the ame. For that reason alone, the man should not be offered a coaching role unless he has apologised.

Best suggestion I have read. Yes I have read other replies  to this suggestion and I know things not going well for the big man but a coaching role with us surely would be tempting and would take him out of the firing line of management for a while. Or do we get the best DM we have had IMO Didi back in to show whoever how to protect the back 4?  Remember the smile on my face when he came on in the champions league final I knew exactly what was going to happen each time he got the ball (and worst scenario was always a free kick to us!) a master of his trade

I think we need to leave alone this obsession with ex-players being the solution to any problem. Under Kenny we struggled to score goals generally and the cry was for Rush or Fowler to come back. You see it now with the calls for Carra or in recent years Sami or whoever else it may be. It's not always that simple. It is not black and white. I love Carra as much as the next man but bringing him into the fold would be a gamble of epic proportions and you are naive if you think otherwise. Rodgers needs to figure out how to organise a defence with what he has around him otherwise he'll never achieve anything as a coach. Exercising a wild-card like getting Carra in as a coach is not something that you want to be doing.
