Surprised this is such a short thread, brilliant show. Anyone watching the current series?

I am yes. Early night for me tonight so will watch tonight's episode tomorrow. Thoroughly enjoyed this show from the start. I think the last few eps have been literally the only ones I can remember where Ray actually gave a shit about Micky.

Yeah definitely, Abbey's cancer has really made Ray think about family.

Hell yes. TV highlight of the week. Where so many shows drop off a cliff in the 3rd series can always rely on this.

It was quieter than usual but
Spoiler
I think the death of Abby warranted a subdued episode. I'm sure Ray will be totally unhinged now and the old ultraviolence will return for the rest of the season

Plus Susan Sarandon is awesome in everything.

Good to see the show back but it's been a bit muted by the other seasons standards.

The brothel scene was funny though. :D

The standard of this season has been excellent thus far....mature, darker and more intense than previous. Really don't think this show gets the recognition it deserves (ditto the terrific Liev Schreiber)..in a TV world of high concept, zombies and fantasy bollocks its hardboiled noir is a gritty, welcome relief.
They have life in them, they have humour, they're arrogant, they're cocky and they're proud. And that's what I want my team to be.

Unfortunately this series has disappeared off a cliff. I understood the 1st episodes slow pace, but still having multiple flashbacks after the 4th is piss poor. The story hasn't progressed as its firmly stuck on one past event, unless you count Mickeys fucking book publishing problems as story .... which I dont

loving it personally....don't mind a slow burner as long as the quality is there, which it is...said it before, the show and Schreiber in particular are very much underrated

Nothing happening in this series though.

Huge downgrade. I was expecting Susan Sarandon to be in it more, he's non violent ...  he won't fuck Natalie .... what are we here for people?

Liking this season just as much as the previous ones.Always seems to start slow and build towards the end so nothing new here. The only downside is Mickeys not as much of an arse this series, and as much as he does my head in where im constantly tearing my hair out and thinking ''Fucking hell mate, just knock it off ye daft tit'' cos hes a fucking clown.Hes also boss

Just watched the latest one in the UK - Series 5 Episode 8. Powerful stuff. Brave decision with the big storyline of this series, and I wasn't sure at first, but it has worked.

It's an excellent all-round show. It doesn't have the seat-of-your-pants thrills that some of the other tops shows do, but it's really polished (in a good way) and very watchable.

Bunchy  needs to get his own spin off show.

The scrapes he gets into are hilarious.

The latest one with the money with Duquesne has been pretty funny. ;D

That was chilling what Mick said to Ray on the phone,he really meant that.

Always a good dynamic when those 2 are at loggerheads.

Poor Bunchy though. :(

Been a strange sort of season I thought the first 7 or 8 episodes have been the worst in all five seasons it genuinely looked like the actors were bored but since the flashbacks with his wife have largely disappeared it really has kicked up a notch and became the Ray Donavan of old.
And that last scene with Micky on the phone was just brilliant

I thought

Spoiler
her death scene

was laughable. I think I did laugh, actually. But I am so put off by that horrible Southie accent that I'm not sure how to even look at any of them anymore. I should probably watch it on mute with subtitles. I imagine deaf people probably enjoy this show a lot more than I do, if anyone is able to even puzzle out the dialogue they are murdering to write subtitles.
