SoS London: Discussion and new members in here
« on: June 22, 2010, 01:38:12 pm »
Graham Smith and Peter Hooton, and possibly a couple of others, are coming down on Thursday 8th July, to address a gathering of existing and prospective members.

As of today, we don't have a confirmed venue, so, any suggestions ?  Central London and capable of accommodating up to 50 people, at least.

26 people on RAOTL and 12 people on here have expressed interest so far.

Cheers

Please note the Agenda for the evening is now in the thread as merged from another thread.

Have you tried Ruse? It's (I think) the official London supporters club pub of choice and the landlord/manager posts on here now and again. It's situated on Borough High St, not far from London Bridge so close to the actual City area.

According to its website you can hire it out: http://www.ruse.uk.com/parties.htm

Think the guy from Ruse who posts here is Tonyh but could be wrong...

I'd be up for going but am over in ireland for a wedding that day. Best of luck.

I'd certainly be interested in attending; so many Liverpool fans down here don't have any idea of how bad things are and we need to get them educated.

Fester, hello mate, i know you are on the LFC london forum. Im Cockney Kopite on that.
I think as crosby nick says, The ruse pub is a good choice, i know Tony, im sure he would not mind us having it there, after all we had the christmas party their. FYI yes it probably will be in the evening.
If some of the london Reds register on www.lfclondon.co.uk im sure their will be some information on their. I think that Chris Odea is the guy you need to contact. his Email is
chrisodea@hixvil.co.uk)

Hope i have been helpful.

We've made it clear that we're pretty relaxed about anyone attending - member or not.

Good chance for people to see how we work and much of it will be introductions etc.

I doubt there'll be much voting, if any,  on the night but we'll have membership forms, packs and other resources with us.

Graham are you going to be organising it. Just let me know when and where and i will let some of the other Reds i know, to make sure that the come to that meeting. As i am a paid SOS member i can come to that meeting, i think that you do have to be a paid SOS member to come to that meeting.

I'm not organising the venue or any arrangements but I will probably chair the meeting. They'll let everyone know the venue when sorted.

We are not limiting it to paid up members but only they will be allowed to express any views if any votes are required (which is unlikely).

This is a relaxed first meeting to set the tone for the formal setting up of the branch that will be done by those picking up the baton.

There will be encouragement and the opportunity to join that evening.

Does a london branch stretch to luton?
Stop whining : https://spiritofshankly.com/ : https://thefsa.org.uk/join/ : https://reclaimourgame.com/
The focus now should not be on who the owners are, but limits on what owners can do without formal supporter agreement. At all clubs.

Nope. Unless the branch ultimately decides that as it gets bigger it has to limit the area.

Branches can have no more than 100 members.

It was felt important that branches didn't get too big to keep them reflective of the membership. Also as democracy increases we didn't want to see one branch dominating a vote due to their block voting size.
