He will improve with more experience. Looked tidy in possession and does not shy away from a challenge.

Have we found our new Coutinho? 10 games and he looks like he has gone 2 levels up.

I agree he’s improved markedly in his last few appearances, and I really liked what I saw last night. I think he’s got a better all-round game than Coutinho, and I also think his substitution was because he’s starting v Forest, same with Thiago.

Both he and elliott are realizing the PL is at least 1 step faster than the Championship and they have to speed up their play accordingly.

Both are very spirited although I think Carvalho has more flexibility in terms of the position he plays. He didn’t looked out of place when playing slightly deeper. Lost the ball a couple of times when holding up the ball unnecessarily but sometimes you got to make that kind of mistakes to improve.

Absolute steal for £5m.

Have Fulham got another gem coming through  who we can steal off them for pittance.

Love watching him play.  I'm as excited about seeing him develop as I've been about anyone in a long while.

Got to get him closer to goal and he'll cause havoc for opponents.

At some point (likely not this season though), he and Nunez are going to run riot together.  Love it.

He's superb technically - I'd love to see him playing centrally off Nunez or Jota, reckon he could cause havoc.

Just needs to find his position and place in the side because the talent is all there and he's still developing. It's easier for him to impact games from the bench when everything opens up.

The position thing is it for me. I'm not sure what he is exactly but his technical ability is incredible.

Fábio Carvalho informed the Portuguese Football Federation, through some SMS messages, that he does not intend to continue representing Portugal at the under-21 level.

This decision by the player was communicated after the call-up for the preparation games with Czechia and Japan was known.

https://www.fpf.pt/pt/News/Todas-as-not%C3%ADcias/Not%C3%ADcia/news/37161/contextid/176

You'd imagine the most likely explanation is he wants to go back to representing England. He must like Harvey more than Diogo.

Right now he is a 10, the most likely thing is he turns into the next Firmino as Firmino was once a 10 too. I don't think he likes the limited space the wing offers and don't think he has the pace. He could turn into an 8 but that will take time learning. Will be an intereting journey, as youve said and others hes very technically gifted so hes learned the hard part.

I'd be surprised if he intended to represent England given how highly he speaks of his Portuguese heritage but if there's even the slightest chance that England can tie him down for the future, I'd expect him to get a cap at the next available opportunity.

Interesting. There's lots of competition in his current position - Foden, Grealish, Mount, Maddison, Sterling, Saka, Bowen, and Elliott will be amongst them soon.

Agree that he doesn't seem to have a clear position in the team. Remains to be seen if he can be an effective winger in a side that's always played with pace out wide. Can see him filling Bobby's role in the side.

With Diaz joining Jota in the treatment room for the next few months, it offers a chance for Carvalho to step up and support Nunez, Salah, and Firmino. He's had a little settling in period now and has shown some good signs off the bench although has struggled to make much of an impact when he's started. Would be great if he could start a few games over the next couple of month.

He needs to take care of the ball much better. It's positive that he always looks to move forward but losing it so easily is quite difficult for a team like us that loves getting caught on the break nowadays. Will come with time but a lot of work  needed if we intend to use him as a RCM ever.

To be fair, he has now scored against them for both us and Fulham within the last 12 months. He may be bullied off the ball occasionally but he certainly isn't being bullied out of games.

Clearly not a finished article but is already doing things most 19 year olds won't

That is not a lot to ask for isn’t it? Even Doak will start ahead of Ox based on what I saw on Monday.

Carvalho like the other kids are electrifying and exciting. As they mature and build consistency they would be an exciting bunch. Now the problem is how to fit him, Doak, and Elliot in one team.
