Says "unsealed documents" so it's likely to be some form of evidence used for her arrest. Maybe stuff they got from Epstein's apartment? (as well as testimony from victims)

A quick search reveals that the court is still deciding if Maxwell's deposition should be unsealed - I thought that above related to that, but this is not the case.

Interesting. So this relates to a separate civil case? Will the federal authorities look to make use of this evidence also I wonder?

Is there any point in releasing these deposition docs? Am I missing something? I was naively thinking they may have some exposing information but of course it’s just pages of Maxwell lying through her teeth in full on denial as expected. Don’t see why the lawyers wanted them uncovered/kept sealed so much. Must be something to it.

Incredible isn't it, you'd think she was on trial for purse snatching the way he has gone on. Some of the comments are outstanding. One of the stand outs for me was the complaint that she was being held 'in a cell' and the prison food is 'highly microwavable'

Her last 'get out of jail free' card was the offer to surrender both her French and British citizenships so as to reduce the risk of her going a runner. Wonder how many dual/triple/quadruple passports she's got tucked away?

New York has a lot of problems but i really like their legal system. They don't take shit as prosecuting attorneys and really have some high profile people on their lists. I really like that Ghislaine has not gotten bail, even though she has supposedly lost 50 pounds. I'm sure she has lost 50 pounds and I am sure loads of other prisoners have too.

I expect she does. She has lived many years and repeated many of these offences without stopping or admitting guilt so she clearly settled her conscience a long time ago, for whatever crazed reasoning that was who knows. Then again psychopaths as I understand them have little to no conscience in the first place so if she fell into that category it wouldn't be an issue. At this point she is probably feeling hard done by and cursing everyone that has put her in this position except herself.

This shit, where rich prisoners like Manafort get special treatment because of whatever ailment or stress, is one of the most blatant examples of inequality in the justice system isn't it? It's like there's an unspoken understanding that it's normal everyday life for poor people to get chewed up and ruined by jail/prison, but for it to happen to a rich white person is just unconscionable.

That is what I meant that at least this time it would appear that Ghislaine in the NY system is getting zero perks and has to live within the weaknesses and harshness of the same system as everyone else. Similarly the judge didn't give her a break just because she can afford a fancy attorney and is not used to such hardship.

Weird aside, and not directly related to the trial...but Ghislaine's mother, Elisabeth Maxwell, came to my house when I was a child. It was probably around 1989.

My dad was hosting a multi-faith discussion group and she was a leading scholar on the Holocaust. She arrived on our drive in a chauffeur-driven Rolls Royce and ate dinner with the rest of the guests. My mum asked her if the driver would like anything to eat, which she declined and said he is fine waiting outside.

Interestingly, this was in the middle of Robert Maxwell's 'worst years' in terms of his behaviour and conduct. Elisabeth has spoken about how her Holocaust work was an escape from this monstrous figure. It's evident that Ghislaine had a dysfunctional upbringing - her dad was probably a horror. She looks like she's inherited some (all) of his traits.

Don’t know much about her, but this article seems to suggest she had a divide between the two lives, talks about her legacy as a ‘Maxwell’. Like you said it’s suggested he was a horror to the kids also.
