Remember this game so clearly..my  baby daughter had died a few months before. I was living in London and my dad who had been ill came to visit her grave about lunch time of the day of the final it had only been two months and remember sobbing my heart out when that goal went as if it came from angels. A few days before I got a signed postcard from Stevie too...my favourite ever goal...(sorry if heavy)

This whole FA Cup run was bonkers. 3-1 down at Luton then winning 5-3 (with Alonso's halfway line goal), beating United, twatting Birmingham 7-0 and then beating Chelsea who were easily the best team in the country at the time.

The final was arguably our worst performance.

Shame it didn't work out for Morientes here. I didnt even remember he was a sub for this game.
Should have sent Konchesky off for that lunge on Gerrard in the first minute.
Its bloody marvellous to see Rafa again.

Dave, bless your little ones heart.

Thanks Andar for the heads up am looking forward to seeing this again.

We basically bought Benayoun off the back of this game. Best player on the pitch, bar Gerrard.

We were 2-0 down after 30 minutes too.

That Luton away was one of the most bizarre matches ever, we were 3-1 down at halftime, Alonso from the halfway line in injury time after the Luton keeper went up front to attack the corner, Gerrard going nuts at Alonso then celebrating.  :lmao

Then we had the 1-0 win against United, first time we beat them in the fa cup for 80 odd years

The semi final win against Chelsea was satisfying too, Luis García, scored a cracker.

Oh & we battered Birmingham away 7-0, i remember being 3-0 up after 20 minutes.

He definitely impressed in this game but we didn’t buy him for another year, he joined in the summer of 2007.

Yeah, that run was so much fun, Luis Garcia's goal against Chelsea is one of my favourites.

And agree that the final was our worst performance but bizarrely, all of West Ham's goals were freakish in their own way and ours came about from actual quality play - mainly from Gerrard. His pass to Cisse for his goal was brilliant but Cisse's volley was perfectly executed and would have been the best goal in most other finals. Gerrard's first was a terrific as well, albeit not as good as his second.

Reina had a bit of mare in the game yet still made that wonder save in the last minute of extra time before the penalty shootout.

Because of how spectacular Gerrard's 2nd was, his pass for Cisse there and his finish for his 1st get overlooked. Absolutely superb.

Now there is no anxiety I love coming from behind in cup finals. Hearing the roar when a goal goes in is great.

Who's that West Ham left back, never seen him before and dont know who he is  :)

This is also a nice game for the neutral I'd have thought. I can barely remember any final since.

Seeing Rafa on the sidelines again makes me smile. We are blessed to have had so many decent men as managers of this club who just happen to have been giants of the game.

Sheringham on to give West Ham a bit of experience here and help them manage the final few minutes.  Can't see us getting a chance with so little time left.

The Rafa era was iconic - absolutely brilliant time to be a red.

Him and Klopp are totally different in pretty much every way but they'll go down for me as 2 of the best of my lifetime I'm sure.

Having done the hard work to get back to 2-2 imagine had we lost to a fluke of a goal. No one would have cared everyone would still have laughed at us. Thank god for Stevie.

Kewell off injured again. Rotten luck to be injured for two finals in a row.

Morientes ended up playing quite a lot of that game. Don't remember that at all.

Didnt he get injured in the 05 league cup final as well?

Just saw Luis Garcia then, and God.
