Agree with this. It's one thing to have a Suarez on your team, who is a lightning rod for hatred but always acted the innocent. It's better (not comparing skills, mind you) to have a guy like Robertson who invites the disdain and doubles down on riling up the opposition. Long may it continue.

Some would say when you're a good player there's no need to be snide, but we've seen plenty of excellent players who have been complete c*nts into the bargain, and I know we've often felt a twinge of envy. Think Costa was a bit like that.

There's no need for it every game imo but it's good to have players who can be like that and turn it on when playing the shithouse teams who want to kick or shirt pull you out of the game. Nobody wins the league these days by playing nice.

Also, not only are him and Trent starting to dish it out, but they're doing it in such a subtle way that they'll probably avoid cards and just get a talking to from the ref. Its not like they're nasty or putting in leg breaking tackles every week - its more snide and aimed at ruffling the opposition (like Messi's hair).

Of course, VAR might mean they come unstuck one day, but they're such incredible footballers (and so rarely dissenting towards officials) that I think their reputations will remain intact and off the radar for some time yet.

Technically I agree, but the game was different back then. It was a hard game played by hard men who dished it out and took the return on the chin. It was all out in the open for the most part and reckless was part of the game.

Big difference between hard and snide, or players trying to be hard when they're just cowardly little fucks who don't want their hair messed up (looking at you Raheem).

Our lads have got the right balance and the nouse of when to use it. Some players will just act like that all the time.

Robbo's passing was off the mark today, especially in the first half as he gave away possession numerous times. I'd like to see him get a day off from one of our next two games as they should be the easiest on paper from the upcoming busy schedule.
