Dont let the xG zealots fool you. Brighton are where they should be

You cannot seriously believe there are 15 superior football teams in the Premier League surely?

How many minutes of added on time will Big Dunc hold up?
The people of Liverpool are workers. This is not a rich town where everyone lives a comfortable life. They work hard for themselves, and this is what we at Liverpool like to do. This is the attitude we must all have.

Brighton is a strange side. Creates a lot of chances but it's as if they intentionally keep missing them.

Superior in what way? Between the boxes? Absolutely not...between the boxes, Brighton might be top 3 in the league.

But in the boxes? Yikes. They are where they should be because of that. Unfortunately for them, this isnt Figure Skating. If it was, podium places

Our worst season in years, lost 6 on the bounce at Anfield,  they win the derby for the first time in a generation and still they are behind us in the league. Everton! :lmao
However if something serious happens to them I will eat my own cock.

Everton have been trash since November and have no business being anywhere near us.

Brighton should have more points than them and they should have won today.

That'll do. Brighton were never going to score, utterly useless. Everton still behind us with a worse goal difference if they win their game in hand now.

Brighton are miles ahead of Everton in the XG table, but you don't deserve to win games if you can't score.

Everton surprised me.

They were far far worse than I had imagined.

They've spent an absolute fortune, got a manager who is well beyond what they should have and I'll be amazed if they finish higher than 11th! Progress...

Brighton should have more points than them and they should have won today.

XG table has them 12th and us 3rd. Then again, it has Brighton 5th (before today)! It's not a true barometer but it gives an insight into the quality of the play of a team.

Every week Everton have less chances and less possession than their opponents. They have a knack of things falling to them in the box and not the opponent. The way they blagged that chance at the end.

Except for winning a foul by falling over, Richarlison's only contribution in the second half was about four touches of the ball. Appalling player.

I'm no xG fanboy but it's clear to see that Brighton are a decent striker away from being comfortably midtable. They play some great stuff and have improved a lot defensively over the course of the season.
You cannot call overseas Liverpool supporters glory hunters. We’ve won one trophy this decade. If they’re glory hunters, they’re really bad ones. They’re actually journey hunters. It’s the journey and the story. Something about Liverpool has grabbed them." - Neil Atkinson (May, 2019)

That was shit, imagine how bad it will be when they play Spurs on Friday. Can they both decide to take a nil-nil and save everyone the time?

Spurs will beat them unfortunately.

Dont let the xG zealots fool you. Brighton are where they should be

They are because football is about putting the ball in the net.

XG, particularly over 30+ games, at least gives you a barometer of the quality of your play and chances. Everton have massively outperformed their XG all season and Brighton have massively underperformed theirs. Do Everton deserve to be ahead of Brighton? Ultimately, yes because they've gone out and got the points by hook or crook. But the level of the performances of the two teams tonight is a microcosm of both all season. Both in terms of XG and in ultimately points. Everton getting a better result than their performance and Brighton dominating and not scoring.
