It was always going to be the case.

Everyone had different opinions although not liking something doesn’t necessarily make it overrated.

Then you’ve got things which are inexplicably popular but in reality does anyone rate them (eg. Mrs Brown’s Boys, Ed Sheeran).

My shout for this thread is Coldplay but I suspect to a lot in here they’ll fit under the (no one rates them anyway) category.

 I actually love popular things, and I love sci-fi/fantasy stuff. I know I already said Marvel but I'm going to have to say Star Wars too

Watching as a kid, rewatching as an adult... Lightsabers are cool, Chewbacca is cute, the droids are funny... Everything else, massive ehhh

I don't get how the franchise is held in such reverence when the original trilogy aren't that great films to begin with. I know they're old but it's people my age who hold them in as high regard or even higher than the old arses who saw them when they came out

They're films that maybe captured your childish imagination... Not masterpieces. Don't understand how grown adults can get emotional over the latest cash grab when they've been milking that thing for decades

Great visually, sure. But the plot and dialogue in both of them are cheesey as fuck.

The Martian was horrendous. I really wanted Damon to die on that planet.

I recently rewatched Children of Men, and have to say this might be a problem in most Cuarón films. It still is a very good movie, mostly because of the technical stuff and how it builds and shows such a comprehensive distopian world, but some of the dialogue was very silly and cringy for such a seriously toned movie, especially Michael Caine's character.

That reminds me - Michael Caine.

For me it's The Hangover. I don't think it's terrible but the way that everyone seems to presume it must be everybody's favourite comedy is baffling. It's a 7/10 movie at best and I have no motivation to watch it again.

Found it a really tough read

I thought the references to Cromwell as 'him' a bit tedious but nowhere as tedious as the constant, boring references to 'Bill' in 'Red or dead' by David Peace. That is over rated.
